This morning, everything looked good for the Who concert at Alltel Arena on Thursday. Pete Townshend said on his blog that lead singer Roger Daltrey was apparently well again after fighting bronchitis and throat problems. However, at 3 p.m., Pete had news that didn't sound good: Roger' sodium levels are down. Things are up in the air for Roger getting out on stage for the last four shows of this leg of the tour.
Somebody tell these guys a stopover at any number of fine Little Rock greasy spoons will alleviate Roger's sodium-level problem, and fast. Personally, we recommend the Buffalo Grill and a double-meat cheeseburger, chips, fries on the side with Heinz, a big bowl of chili cheese dip, and some nachos with guacamole. That should do the trick.

Pete Townshend is blogging and keeping us hopeful Who fans up to date on whether the band will be able to play Thursday's show at Alltel Arena. So far, it appears Roger Daltrey is needing to rest his voice more than just a couple of days.
Doesn't sound promising.
I'm not sure I've been this excited about a baseball season since I was a kid. And this is an excitement about minor-league baseball, and the new Dickey-Stephens Park. Here are some night shots that our photographer, Brian Chilson, took last week while they were doing the "burn in" of the lights, where they kept them on for 100 straight hours.
In his latest blog entry, Pete said, "Today, lacking any further medical update on Roger's condition other than he was at first feeling worse, then a little better, Bill Curbishley (the Who's manager) has, with my full support, cancelled the next show in San Antonio. On Monday Roger will see his Doctor in Miami and a decision will then be made about the rest of the shows on this leg."
The Who is scheduled to play at Alltel Arena on Thursday, March 22.
We're holding our breath and crossing our fingers, but it appears that Roger Daltrey's throat problems due to bronchitis may encroach on this week's Who concert at Alltel Arena. The Who is scheduled to play at Alltel on Thursday, March 22. The great Brit band has already postponed shows at Mexico City (March 17) and San Antonio (March 19), and the next day up is the show here.
The problems started last week in Tampa when Daltrey had to quit after one song because of his throat problem brought on by the bronchitis. The Who plans to perform in Tampa again in May.
We've put in calls to Alltel Arena officials, but they've heard no word on whether their show is still a go.

David Koon, our intrepid in-house movie reviewer (as opposed to our out-of-house movielover, the Moviegoer, and another of our good out-of-house movie pundits, Matt Reed), points out this feature from Entertainment Weekly's online edition: The 12 movies that make guys cry.
And on that list, which has us chortling, are such films as "Field of Dreams" and "Hoosiers." Sorry, sports flick may make us cheer, but not tear. Do they make you tear?
Now, "Saving Private Ryan," yeah, we had to kinda cover up our face so our date that night wouldn't notice, as if the sniffling didn't give it away. And "My Dog Skip," truth be known, nobody was home, it was middle of the afternoon, watching it on HBO, and yes we were bawling like a little 5-year-old again.
But "Armageddon," are you kidding me? Just listening to the lyrics of that Aerosmith song assured that we wouldn't get the least bit sentimental over that one.
Once again, after much thought, a university scientist, this one in Scotland says that was no ivory bill woodpecker that people claim to have seen in Arkansas in 2004. After his announcement, geneticist J. Martin Collinson headed out to Loch Ness to prove the exisitence of the Nessie the monster.

Tomorrow, in our print edition, you'll be able to read a story about the Treehouse, this new house show place near UAMS that's been having some bigtime national acts stop in for shows, some of the acts on their way to South-by-Southwest and elsewhere.
The only problem is, the Treehouse has been shutdown as of today. The band The Thing That Always Explodes sent out a blast email to fans today telling them that the venue/house would not be having the show, but that the show would be held a couple of blocks away, on Pine Street, in another house. Just for the sake of keeping LRPD off the trail of the show, we'll let you find out the location from The Thing That Always Explodes' website if you want to see the house show.
According to TTTAE's email, the Treehouse has been "harassed" by the local police. It's close the UAMS and the campus police had come knocking a few times because of excessive loudness, we're told. Also, parking tickets had been issued in the area to kids checking out the shows.
If the Treehouse just moves to another house, it won't be the first time. They were doing shows several blocks away last year before that got shut down and they moved over to Cedar. Here's the crux: They're offering loud music and a gathering place, they apparently don't charge money but take donations, they allow all ages, they allow smoking, they aren't a licensed business or club or concert hall. While we have no problem with any of that (as long as they aren't next door to us), that's just what the police tend to look for.
Remember the "rave" crackdown a few years back. It probably brought more mainstream attention to the "rave" craze that the police were cracking down on them and people were driving all the way out to Pinnacle Mountain just to find one.

According to wire service reports, the Who had to quit after one song of last night's concert in Tampa when lead singer Roger Daltrey could not continue because of bronchitis. The Tampa crowd of 9,000 was happy to learn later than the Who would be back May 25 to make up the show.
The Who plays at North Little Rock's Alltel Arena a week from today (March 22).

Amy Lee and Evanescence will be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight at the tail end of the 10:35 p.m. show on NBC (KARK-TV, Channel 4 in Little Rock). Tomorrow night, it's "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" on ABC (which locally airs at 11 p.m. on KATV, Channel 7).
Evanescence will be playing Alltel Arena on March 25.
Times photographer Brian Chilson went over to Dickey-Stephens Park today in the beautiful pre-spring weather and capture this fanstastic show from behind home plate of the new stadium. This is sure to get any baseball fan's juices flowing.
Traipse on over to Travelerocity to read up on the latest happenings in spring baseball, including news on the Travs and more as well. That should keep you sated for a little while. Only 36 days until the opener at Dickey-Stephens, and just 23 days until the Cards and Mets meet when the MLB season opens.
Where are my seats again, Bill V.?
Here's a look at Friday's massive Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase finals at the Revolution Room last week, plus a little on the announcement last night at Sticky Fingerz that Cooper's Orbit was the 2007 best original music band in Arkansas.
Great performances all around -- Highway 5, Cooper's Orbit, Damn Bullets, Jeff Coleman and the Feeders, and Dean Agus Band were all husky. More than 700 passed through the doors Friday, and a good crowd showed up last night just to learn who had won.
It's more of a meltdown than a mashup.
We just saw her last night in Kansas City, amazing. My husband and I drove…
I heard her music on Masterpiece Mystery on PBS (of all places). This woman is…
