UPDATE: Thoughts from Chilson and more pictures after the jump.
The sound created by 13,896 little girls calling out to their teen idol is what you'd expect to hear from passengers on a sinking ship, a shriek so piercing that my eyes literally winced closed. A fellow photographer and I simultaneously mouthed the words "holy crap" to each other as the lights began to dim.
The mania surrounding Justin Bieber is lost on me. Just like my little sister's manic adoration of Shaun Cassidy was lost on me in 1977. But then as now, I know it isn't meant for me to understand or enjoy. Forty-six-year-old men are well outside Bieber's demographic. His songs are pop-y and well produced; there are plenty of dancers and he's got the requisite teen-dream haircut. He's not to my taste, but how can an arena full of loyal screaming fans be wrong?

Sydney Frames' pictures that will appear on FB & probably in the Sync are so much better, and I don't even like Justin Be-whatever.
Jeez, for someone who wants to be to cool to like this guy - and either pretends not to know his name or is too lazy scroll up to find out – you sure know where to stalk his image.
I know - how about ya run out and get a copy of Sync? It's probably full of worthless bar pictures and really easy words you can read while you're waiting for your cheese sticks.
Then you can cut out Be-whatever's pics and hang them over your bed and high-five Sydney Frames when you see her. Yes, I'm sure the photos nobody's seen yet are sooooooo much better.
I think that like always, Mr. Chilson's done a great job depicting the event. He's one of the best photojournalists in the state.
Lrshubert: Wait, people actually read Sync? Weird, because I always see them littering the ground. That's pretty funny because I routinely see barely touched boxes of that mess everywhere and think to myself, what a waste of money. However, that's just my opinion.
Also before you are so harsh to criticize Chilson's work, I'd love to see you try to capture The quality displayed above. Coming from a fellow photographer, shooting shows like that takes skill, and if nothing else, those just prove why the Times keeps going back to him. I also commend him for having to put up with 13,000+ screaming and obnoxious Tweens. So to sum it up, give credit where credit is due before you go around knocking people you don't even know.
SHUKS SO HANDSOME I LOVE YOU NA!!!! SANA MAKILALA MO AQ D2 IN PHILIPPINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 PLEASE
Brian and I shoot the same shows all the time. He's a great guy, and an excellent photographer.
(This link randomly appeared on Google, so.... Had I known about it when it first went up, I would've said something then.)
