Two of the pop music world's biggest names are headlining a benefit* for the West Memphis Three at the end of the month in Little Rock. Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder and The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines are coming to the Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 28.

On Wednesday, those who're on the WM3 supporter email list will get information on the ticket vendor. If any tickets remain early next week, they'll be made available to the general public.

General admission will be $95 and VIP will be $500.

The church holds just under 700.

A message from a member of Arkansas Take Action: Don't call Quapaw Quarter UMC to ask about tickets. The church doesn't have anything to with ticket sales.

*UPDATE: Though proceeds will go to Arkansas Take Action and the QQUMC, they'll also go to cover expenses. In other words, you won't be able to claim a tax deduction for them.

He writes: "You see, while I am innocent of the crime that sent me to prison most of the people there aren't (though I did meet others who actually are) and I made the decision long ago to treat these guys as people and not see them for the crimes that put them there. As a result I saw their humanity. I made friends with a lot of guys there who were juveniles when they committed their crimes. I grew up with them. We shared food, hopes, dreams and prayers. When I left I promised them all that I would not forget them. That is why I now not only fight for the innocent, to abolish the death penalty but I also fight for those youth who made a horrible mistake and realize that now." /more/

So now there's something on Ticketmaster's site called Voices for Justice taking place at Robinson Center the same night for $33ea? The WM3 blog (which still hasn't provided ticket info or the press release) was calling the Eddie/Natalie event Voices for Justice... What the heck is going on?

The men known as the West Memphis Three are innocent. The DNA found at the scene does not match them and points to other possible suspects. Please read more about this important case and get involved in the discussions. paradiselost3 (dot) com

The West Memphis 3 are guilty. The DNA evidence was inconclusive.

Echols (one of the 3) was seen in muddy clothes near the crime scene. He bragged about the murder to two other teenagers, stating he killed the three boys. This was presented as evidence at the trial. Echols also had a history of psychiatric treatment. His reported actions included brutally killing a dog, starting fires at his school, threatening to kill his teachers and parents and stating he liked to drink blood.

Baldwin (another of the 3) confessed to a friend and described the crime to this friend. This evidence was presented at trial.

Fibers on the murdered victims’ clothing were found to microscopically similar to things in the Baldwin and Echols homes.
