  • New mixtape from BLACK PARTY, 'Prototype'

    October 16, 2014
Little Rock's BLACK PARTY released his long-awaited (at least by us) new tape "Prototype" this afternoon — check it out below. Also, if you missed it, here's his new video, for "Hilaro Springs." featuring Google Maps and a psychedelic purple field that looks straight of "What Dreams May Come" (courtesy of Times visionary Kenneth Bell). /more/

Romance ruins everything. It pervades into every fiber of our social tapestry and fills our minds with the mirage that is wholeness. We are obsessed with “having it all”, whatever that means individually. And when we cannot have it, we feel a varying sense of loss that often propels us toward self injury. At many different points in my stumble I have felt this pang. /more/
  • Fleetwood Mac is coming to Verizon Arena

    October 9, 2014
Verizon Arena reports this morning that Fleetwood Mac (now including longtime estranged member Christine McVie) will be in town March 11. I know that seems that a long time from now, but tickets go on sale Monday Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. and they'll probably go fast. Prices range from $52.50-$174, tickets will be available via Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. /more/

I've never been a good dj really, always throwing in a Rossini aria or some spoken word ballad by Johnny Cash at a late night party, but I do listen to music constantly and had fun putting this list together. I narrowed it down to music I'm listening to a lot this week, some of my all time favorites, and mostly (hopefully) a playlist that others might enjoy. /more/
  • New video from Goon des Garcons, 'Publicity Stunt'

    October 6, 2014
Here's the latest from Goon des Garcons, "Publicity Stunt," in which the Young God slow-motion strolls around The Fold and gets mobbed by fans (over a beat by Mach Soul). Below. an extended version featuring Lightskin Mac 11 from the Atlanta collective Two-9. /more/
  • Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) remixes Kari Faux's 'No Small Talk'

    October 2, 2014
Rapper and TV star Donald Glover ("Community") released a new mixtape today, "STN MTN" (that's Stone Mountain to those of you not from Georgia), hosted by DJ Drama no less, and the highlight is a remix of a song by Little Rock's own Kari Faux. "No Small Talk," which we previously labeled the Song of the Summer (was I wrong?), was produced by Kari and BLACK PARTY, and though I probably prefer the original version, this is big news for Arkansas and, who knows, might be Kari's Drake-cosigning-Migos moment. /more/

  • Guest Mix: Pepperboy

Here's a collection of 9 records that's really had an effect on my career. These records have touched me in many ways ... some are very personal and even disturbing at times when I hear them, because of certain situations I been through where those records were playing in the background. I'm proud to share this 9 track soundtrack with Arkansas Times because these records mean so much to me and I hope you enjoy!!! /more/
  • Guest Mix: Andrew Morgan

    September 23, 2014
This mix came about like most do: I grabbed a stack of records — some recent acquisitions some not so — that included tunes I'm currently obsessed with, put a tape in the deck, started mixing without a plan, and then tried to stop by the time the tape ran out. /more/
