The Reel Civil Rights Film Festival, a partnership between the Little Rock Film Festival and the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site that runs from Sept. 21-25, announced its line-up today. It's a strong one. Harry Belafonte and members of the Little Rock Nine will be in attendance for a screening of "Sing Your Song," a documentary about Belafonte's life. And Tommie Smith, the gold-medalist who famously offered the black power salute at the 1968 Olympics (and who Little Rock Film Festival leaders the Renaud brothers recently interviewed for the TeamUSA Olympic YouTube Channel), will participate in a talk.
Lots of other promising films and speakers, too. All events are free but require registration. Venues include the Peabody, the Argenta Community Theater and the Oxford American.
