Music Here's a new War Chief song for your Friday music listening

Here's a new song (and a new logo) from Little Rock's War Chief.

The weekend draws nigh, so here's a brand new tune from War Chief to either ease you weekend warriors into two days of relaxation or help propel you through your shift or shifts, if Saturday and Sunday are workdays for you.

The track, "30 Pieces," was recorded at the band's Dec. 29 show at Revolution. Frontman Grayson Shelton said via email that it was the first time they'd played it and "so it's a little rough."

I don't know, it sounds really good to these ears. It's big-sounding guitar rock, the mix is spot-on, it feels a lot shorter than its 7:18 running time and it's still got that refreshing new-song smell.

'A Loss of Roses' a stunner

Before last Friday night, the saddest, most "depressing" Depression-era story I had read was Horace McCoy's "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" However, after watching The Arkansas Repertory Theatre's opening performance of William Inge's "A Loss of Roses," I can attest that this play is as rough and unflinching as that Depression-era tale, or any other.
