Max has the jump on Eye Candy on the news that Jane Chu, a former Arkadelphia resident and graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, has been named by President Obama to head the National Endowment of the Arts. An editorial in the Kansas City Star — Chu is CEO of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City — calls her “quietly efficient, guardedly passionate and publicly unflappable,” traits she'll need as the head of the arts agency.

Update: Here's Culturgrrl's take on the timing of the Chu appointment.
