Just back from a long vacation, I don't feel my usual dislocation. Internet connections were sketchy, but I read the Arkansas Times and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and stayed up with e-mail.

Re: “Republicans: First they went after Clarke Tucker's 4-year-old; now his old man

Great response Grant. Vanessa - Leslie has been in everyone else's business since she was a kid! This seems right up her alley.

Re: “State rep candidate Clarke Tucker: opposition research regarding his 4-year-old son's application to pre-k by Stacy Hurst is "completely unacceptable"

Stacy - the minute you said "in social circles and cocktail parties" you threw down the cheapest shot possible. Tight race just got tighter in my opinion. I know how I will be voting this fall.

Re: “Legislative committee meets on grain dealer losses

I'm with eL and Durango on this one. What a piss poor comment from Mr. Carter. If this had been a bank, broker or insurance company all hell would be breaking loose.

eL - if you want an interesting read look at The Boom by Russell Gold.

Re: “Dog bowl inventor purchases former Dogpatch land

I was only there in the mid-70's and I thought it was a beautiful place. My fraternity did a couple of Christmas Formals up there and I thought it was pretty special. We rented out some of the Chalets down in the woods and then used the convention center for dinner and a dance. Ended up snowing that night so we thought that was pretty cool. The next day we used the ice skating rink and the ski run that had artificial snow. The ski run was the kiss of death in that with a little bit of sun on that snow it turned to ice. Many went home to Fayetteville with road rash on their faces as they slid down the hill face first!

Re: “Here's an open line, plus today's video

Doc - don't feel out in the cold because it happened to me last week and it really pissed me off. First off, I'll be happy to take Max to task because your not serving your customer. You have given a second party total control over your customers and their product sucks. No email a month, week or day before saying that your subscription is about to expire. Just a black blanket thrown over the screen when you read a story and then hit comments. From a customers standpoint it's let me fix this as quickly as I can. I went ahead and upped for another year but there are people on this blog who can't do that financially. As a businessman Max I would tell you to model future years revenue streams very conservatively because I'm not so sure how many subscribers will return. The kicker for me is that at work I have one of the most locked down ip systems you have ever seen. It won't let me log into The Times but it will let me go to the blog as many times a day as I want to view stories. Unfortunately Max you have put you customer in the middle and that's the last place a customer needs to be.

Re: “Monday's open line, plus a note on Rockefeller regulators

Damn Vanessa. I've had two surgeries in one year! I won't be clean until April of '15.
