Re: “The line is open

"The only people more interested in sex and lady parts than Republicans are teenage boys. And that ain't no coincidence."

Aaaand I think you've nailed it, RBAV. Republicans are just teenaged boys who've never grown up--they've just gotten older and more powerful and less tolerant.

P.S. - Who wants to bet that most of them--I won't say all--were also bullies?

Re: “Fatal police shooting followed by angry protests as crowd gathers

Thanks, outlier. While I was still at work I couldn't get my hip-hop on, but relaxing now at home bushmann's post does make sense to me.

Re: “Old times in South not forgotten: vote suppression jump-started by Supreme Court

I'd just like to note that the "current" Doonesbury "Jimmy Crow" strips already ran last year during the run-up to the 2012 election, if not two years earlier (my memory has become defective, but not completely unreliable). I was concerned that Trudeau was ill or something, but if it's deliberate, it's a point well made.

Re: “Lighten the load

Having dwelt some years on the "pleasant peninsula", I don't think I was ever aware of the state motto, although it did ring an oddly familiar bell when I read it here. A little research--Guess where?--yielded the original source:

The epitaph of Sir Christopher Wren in London's St Paul's Cathedral reads as follows: "Si monumentum quaeritis, circumspice" (If you seek a monument, look about you).

Re: “Stormy morning: Shoffner, hospitals, abortion

CBB, Cole was interviewed this morning on NPR, and he said that he had, indeed, voted FOR Hurricane Sandy relief, and he is sure--and the President has assured him--that the country will come through for his state.
