  • First-hand: 20-week abortion limit is unfair

With Rep. Andy Mayberry's bill to ban abortions in Arkansas from the 20th week of pregnancy onward currently delayed in a Senate committee, there's still time to hear from those who think this legislation has negative consequences for women, in addition to potentially running afoul of federal court precedent.

Re: “NOT GUILTY: Jury acquits Naramore in son's death

Doigotta, for state jury duty one is called for a period of time - usually 4 months. When I was called it was for 6 months. I served on more than one jury during that time. It was fascinating and boring and highly educational, but nothing like on TV.

Re: “Todays' debate: Catholic High-style problem-solving

As a parent that's my policy. It's not a casual thing to miss work because a kid is forgetful. But I have girls & no ADHD, so perhaps that makes it an easier call.

Re: “Thursday's open line

If it's already been said here, well, forgive me. Judge Larry Chandler of Magnolia passed away this week. He was an incredibly nice man and a fine judge.

Re: “The Mother's Day open line

As a mother and a daughter I admit to ambivalence about Mother's Day. I can't help but feel for those who have lost children, never had children (and wanted them), lost their mothers, or who just have very complicated relationships with their mothers. Nonetheless, we braved the brunch crowd today. The Hendrix cafeteria was a mix of multi-generational families in Sunday best and stressed out students in the middle of finals. No disco tray for me, sadly.

Re: “Health Board adopts rule putting words in mouths of women seeking abortion: UPDATE

Think of what the State Board of Health should require doctors to tell people who refuse to vaccinate their children.

"Are you aware you may be causing the death of an already born child?"

Other suggestions?
