I tried it and thought it was ok, but then I had Raising Cane's in Shreveport and remembered how much it dwarfs every other chicken tenders place. I wish, at least, that Zaxby's had moved into town instead.
I had the special at The Pantry last week (a pork dish), and then kicked myself for not eating there more often.
I was in Louisiana this weekend and noticed a Twisted Root Burger Co. being built in Shreveport. Could we be seeing one here soon?
I have heard a lot about a little something Natchez is whipping up at the Bernice Garden Farmers' Market, might try to give it a go tomorrow. I have also been hearing rave reviews about Natchez in general.
I was finally able to make it to Southern Gourmasian today while they still had chicken and dumplings. They do NOT hold back on the spice on that one. I enjoyed it, but I don't think on the level as some of the people that have raved about it to me. I decided to gorge myself and also get an order of ol' faithful, the pork buns. I think I get just as excited about the chips.
I am a fan of Damgoode, but have always avoided their "basic" pizzas because I have heard they just use less ingredients all around on them, but some friends and I took down a pepperoni and jalapeno recently, and I was thoroughly impressed. I always forget how good that hand-tossed crust is.
I wish Vore and Nancy Pelosi were together.
@Dan and jennifer - I stopped for kolaches....I ate them all.
I have really enjoyed Table Mesa the two times I have been there, and was disappointed with what I ordered at Tusk and Trotter. Their menu did excite me, though, so I imagine I will be back there eventually. I absolutely love Rolando's, and was so glad I took numerous pieces of advice and tried the tilapia dish. I have tried to find a recipe for something that resembles that sauce but have had no luck.
Daniel - I share your enthusiasm for donuts, which is why I had to stop for a couple of regular glazed at Southern Maid in Shreveport. I had a strawberry & cream from Gourdough's yesterday (they are set up at the music festival I am attending). It was way pricey, but super delicious. I also had a Frank's hot dog with white cheddar and a poutine -style gravy. This morning, I am hitting up Dan's Hamburgers for breakfast tacos. There is a place (that may be newer) called Tacos & Tequila; I had 3 tacos there: ahi tuna, beef tenderloin, and tamarind duck.
Need a vacation.
