on the opposite side of the spectrum several of my extremely liberal friends have birkbeck listed after Hendrix in their education history and when you view their profile Birkbeck shows up as their alma mater. Pretentious? I guess you could see it that way maybe, but they did attend, and attended long enough to get badgered for donations I'm sure. I realize the objective of this entry was to jab Griffin as an elitist. I'm okay with that but it goes both ways and I seriously doubt it was done as an afront to a great local institution. If anything it shows that he's actually attended an institution with a more global reach. I think trying to make something out of it is petty.
I also attended Hendrix and have it listed on Facebook but unless you view my entire profile you wouldn't see it. The university that shows up on my profile header is the last one I entered in my profile, not Hendrix.
it's open enrollment time. I've been told that the I can only contribute a maximum of $2500 to my flexible health spending account because of the Affordable Health Care Act implementation. That hurts us as we'll have more qualified expenses than $2500. My premiums have skyrocketed as well. I had hoped to see it get better for me and I'd consider myself to be low middle income at best. Are they speculating that my costs will go down in the long term?
ditto on his chicken wings, made to order, no reheated items, all cooked on the spot. prices are a bit high but it's hard to complain once you try them.
I'm skeptical of those numbers until I see proof this time. I signed this petition a few weeks back. Several young men where canvassing the kroger parking lot on Chenal and gathering signatures. All seemed to be asking the right questions regarding a person's registered voting status in Arkansas. I don't think they really knew what they were requesting signatures for but that's fine, they were getting paid to collect as many valid signatures as they could and hopefully those who signed were honest about being registered Arkansas voters.
His taxes are funding secret service protection because he's the presumptive nominee. It would pay for the protection regardless of who the nominee is. If you want to split hairs about protective details you should be more concerned with the amount spent by the first family whenever seperate planes are used to ferry the family and staff on vacation, or campaign events in the same manner that Romney's protection bothers you. That would be like arguing that a person who pays no income tax at all (students, poor, etc.) would not be entitled to call the police or any other city services until someone has had a chance to check their 1040 form.
so assume I pay 1/10000th of what he pays, does he use 10000 times the roads, defense, safe food, and safe drugs than I do? He sure is paying that much more. Sure there's value to a percentage based system but at some point you have to step back and evaulate the sheer amount of dollars that someone pays into a system and put some caps on it. I'm not arguing that the rich aren't ripe to pay their share but our government spending is a mess. Let's get it under control and fix our tax laws. It amazes me how any opinion that doesn't march in lock step with your own is deemed as a "dumb post"...our ideological split as a nation only gets worse as people deviate from sharing ideas to taking sides and calling names. Whatever.
