I was in Saline County yesterday, Bauxite actually, so I wandered over to Benton check this place out. I had two tacos (mahi and shrimp), guac and a Mexican Coke. not bad, and the proprietors were extremely friendly, but honestly, I wouldn't drive all the way out there just for Baja Grill.
Riviera Maya? Cozymel's? really? I don't believe I've heard anybody praising that shit.
honestly I expect about the same level of food out of Chuy's. which means I probably won't be going. not when I can go to Hacienda, Casa Manana, or any number of SWLR or Levy taquerias.
all I can say is I am seriously kicking myself for not doing whatever the fuck it took to make it to Lindsey's solo show.
this week was good.
Monday afternoon, enjoyed a scoop of lavender olive oil ice cream from Loblolly, plus lots of tastes of someone else's buttermilk milkshake, while strolling from the Green Corner Store to the MacArthur puppy park.
Friday afternoon, OD'd on oysters--both on the half shell and fried--plus fried asparagus and a couple of Guinnesses, at the Oyster Bar.
Saturday morning, tried everything we could get our hands on at the Turkish Food Festival. my favorite was the spinach and cheese phyllo pastry but everything was wonderful. I confess we tried five different desserts alongside our Turkish coffee. if you missed it I'm sorry for you!
Sunday noonish: brunch at The House. risotto cakes topped with poached eggs, along with a Bloody Mary, out on the deck in the sunshine. ahhh.
I love how this story is appearing at the top of the page next to the story of W.P. Sooie, the marshmallow-eating, tailgating pet pig.
Jewish food festival last weekend, Turkish food festival and Cinco de Mayo this weekend. I'm a happy girl right now!
Re: “Chew on this: Cuban burrito from Baja Grill”
noted, Michael!
totally agree, Raven, I was thinking the same thing as I was sitting there. I wonder if you can BYOB.
