Wait a minute! You say it was spotted at the "corner of 14th and F"? Ain't no such place in LR. 14th and "F" streets are parallell to each other 20 blocks apart.
Get on the internet and look at the images of New York's The High Line. http://www.thehighline.org. If those pictures can't inspire you nothing will. I can envision several widened out area of the bridge, er I mean park, for exhibits or band stands.
Since the school "is a private Christian university whose mission and policies are rooted in biblical principles" do they enforce ALL biblical principles?
Do they insist that if a student has a family member who does not believe in the god they believe in, that they should immediately kill that family member? (Deuteronomy 13:6-15)
Do they teach their students to buy slaves? (Leviticus 25:44-46)
Do they teach that a father can sell his daughter as a sexual slave? (Exodus 21:7-11)
Do they teach that if a student happens to be a slave and does not respect and obey their master they they are puffed up with conceit? (Ephesians 6:5)
If you say that Jesus did away with these "biblical principles" then you need to read Matthew 5:18-20.
This one ought to be good for at least 20 years.

My point: It didn't take Christians to do away with slavery. It took moral, rational people, people who did the right thing despite what it says in the Bible.
"We must always remember that our loyalty to God comes before our loyalty to country. Christian as he seemed to be, RE Lee went off the track here."
If we go by loyalty to God then we have to condone slavery. Christianity had nothing to do will freeing the slave. The Bible approves of slavery.
Exodus 21
Ephesians 6:5
1 Timothy 6:1-4
Jesus NEVER objected to slavery.
