I was going to try this place out one day early last year when they were supposed to be open and they were closed. (Don't remember exactly when.) I drove out of my way to get there, and wasted my time. I won't cry if the business doesn't make it in the long run. A restaurant not opening when they say they will is like an employee not showing up to work for their shift. In my book, they are "fired".
Yes, definitely go back and try the catfish. Its good stuff. They have an "All You Can Eat" catfish on Friday nights... they bring you a plate full of catfish, pinto beans, french fries, corn nuggets, coleslaw, hush puppies, etc, and will continue to top it off (I'm not sure if everything or just the fish -- why would I get seconds on anything else) as long as you would like. With their strong sweet tea, its a great meal from such an unassuming little place. I wish they did it on more than just Friday nights though.
Wow, I posted a new comment but somehow an old comment from another post came up, thats weird...
Really? That's sad. No reason to subject Jonesboro to them too... Yes, I know some people in Conway like them -- likely in the same way some people like Starbucks because they've never had "real" coffee and they think all coffee is supposed to taste that way. I just don't see what is making Wimpy's so popular? Its not the dry, tasteless burgers. Is it the selection of cheese? Is it because they are wrapped in aluminum foil?
Have you tried the Fried Pie Shop in Jacksonville? I know its a chain but those things are great! http://www.theoriginalfriedpieshop.com/Loc…
I don't know how you can compare the Fresh beef patty of David's to the frozen dry patty from Wimpy's. I don't care how many toppings you put on the burger, I'd rather have the fresh one!
Re: “Food Truck Friday takes bite out of business: UPDATE”
Don't complain if you have competition. If people are choosing to eat at the food trucks instead of at your business, there is a reason. Figure out what the reason is and capitalize on it. If the trucks are faster, speed up your service. If the trucks provide cheaper food, reduce your menu prices. If the trucks are providing something "different", add some new items to your menu. Don't just complain because the trucks don't allow you to be lazy anymore.
