The case can end, certainly--it is solvable. Martin Luther King, Jr.: "A lie cannot live." This case is a living lie.
Carrick, should we all walk away from injustice?
Siprak and plainjim, you both ignore the fact that it was Howard who reached out to Benca. Respectfully, what is your rationale for doing that?
The West Memphis Police are doing more than simply withholding old information. They are also withholding new information being called into their tip lines about this case. They are protecting something. That something is the truth, not justice. They are now officially party to this twenty year old crime.
I was lucky enough to be able to spend some time with each of them over the past couple of days. They are, each of them, beautiful and kind. Not even the kind of malicious superstition, ignorance and corruption (exemplified in Altheimer Addition's comment) visited upon them for nearly two decades has corrupted their spirits. Jason is on it: the good outweighs the bad in this world. (Though as Altheimer Addition shows us, the battle with the narrow-of-mind will never end.) Long live, freely, the West Memphis 3.
