Re: “Walter was the worst

I've seen Becker do the chat with the audience before. At Mud Island a few years ago, he thanked the audience for spending big bucks on the tickets rather than coke, like back in the day. His banter during "Hey Nineteen" was hardly insulting, and he knows exactly what his role is on stage among 12 or so virtuoso musicians – iconic co-creator of all those legendary songs. He's the man who (in the studio) played bass and SUPPORTING guitar to many legends such as Larry Carlton, Skunk Baxter and Elliot Randall.

What an unfortunate, ill-informed review. Try a Steel Panther concert next time for all your stunt guitar needs.

Re: “Slopping the legislative hogs at next week's special session

They also lifted that lovely Junction Bridge photo without permission, and used it without a credit.

Re: “Secretary of State Martin closes Capitol on weekends 11 months of year

So...he wants to close the building on Saturdays when it's mostly empty except for tourists and folks who want to see the place but can't during the week – and lots of brides and photographers doing bridal portrait shoots?

Isn't that war on traditional marriage?

Re: “The partisan split on the Confederate flag

I've never understood the re-enactment fanatics. Some estimates are that dysentery claimed nearly 100,000 lives, so why don't they now just play dress-up, run onto a field, crap their pants, THEN play dead?

Re: “James McMurtry at Revolution

"This may not sound like something Hendrix would have said — almost certainly isn't, let's just be honest — but it seems revealing that Parazaider would have remembered it this way, cementing forever the notion that Hendrix bowed before the musical sophistication of a group of white college students playing in a cover band called Chicago Transit Authority."

Let's be REALLY honest – a young white (as long as we're tossing in age and race) entertainment writer in Arkansas, nearly 50 years or so years after the fact, cannot possibly have any insight into the veracity of a conversation between up-and-coming musicians of that era.

There's a difference between "bowing to sophistication" and giving humble, modest credit where it may be due. At this point, Hendrix was not yet a god, and he and Terry Kath were certainly artistic and musical peers, both as vocalists and guitarists.

WS has clearly not heard much of Terry Kath's pure and soulful musical genius.
