Springdale,
Why are being an ass? Just because you misunderstood what I said. I thought liberals were suppose to be the ones that were open-minded and compassionate. My only point was that when it is snowing some people mock global warming and when it is 100 degrees there are those that claim that the end is near.
I believe the earth's weather is changing as it has for million of years, how much mankind has to do with it, I'm not sure. My problem is that for every weather event someone uses that has evidence of pro or con for global warming. It is hot and dry here, yet very wet on the other side of the earth this summer (see Korea, etc..) Alaska has broken numerous record lows this summer. Year before last the US had a brutal winter. Media loves to dramatize the weather.
The police officer is black, is this still racism?
The rest of the story, Moneymaker was fined $500 from the National Park Service for conducting business within the park boundaries without a permit.
If the news today out of the State Board was of more charter schools or the possibility of shutting sown one of the many under performing schools in Pulaski County, there would be a rallying cry from Max and company. However since we are talking about a rural district trying to save the school and the its community it must be a good thing for them to be shut down. Ironically Lead Hill outperforms many of the schools in Pulaski County, it has updated buildings, and is financially sound. There are too many sides in Education: rich vs. poor, black vs. white , rural vs. urban. I'm afraid at the end the children are going to lose.
Head Start and ABC Preschools have both filled a need at times, however it is time to do away with both of these programs. The public schools need to be mandated to provide preschool. The money that these competing programs take could be given to to the public schools, this would be more than enough to cover the expenses.
Re: “Sales tax holiday — get those garter belts now”
Not sure why you are obsessed with this Max. You bring it up all the time. The state of Arkansas is not going to go broke because of this. No programs will be cut etc.. The average family gets a tiny break which most could use. The stores have increased sales for the weekend. So everyone wins. What's the big deal?
