Re: “Has Arkansas deregulated guns or not?

Truth be told, my family is talking about leaving the state when my husband retires in a few years. Arkansas just isn't the place he grew up in anymore. Nor is it the place with which I fell in love. I feel sorry for my adopted state, but I'm just not comfortable here anymore.

Re: “The greatest robo-poll ever

I hung up on it as soon as I realized that it was a push poll. Maybe Mike Huckabee wants to come back?

Re: “Paying for the lottery shortfall — smaller scholarships

These changes will force some students into the two-year colleges which, face it, are not at the same standard as the 4-year institutions. Sometimes advisors at 4-year institutions recommend that students who are having trouble passing courses at their home schools take them in the summer at the community colleges, because they are easier there. THe state legislature seems determined to keep Arkansas at the bottom of the states.

Re: “Guns in church — the cleanup

I will not attend a "Christian" church that permits guns, and I think that those congregations who permit them should receive special scrutiny from the IRS, as they clearly are not following Christian teachings.

Re: “Rapert abortion bill passes by voice vote

I was happy when I moved to Arkansas. The state seemed to have an independent streak, but it didn't have any more than the usual number of crackpots for a deep-South, rural state, and the crackpots were under control. I am no longer comfortable here. I am deeply saddened for my adopted state. Women should not be forced to carry to term a fetus that will never survive outside their wombs. Women can't find that out, though, until well past twelve weeks. Women should not be forced to carry to term a baby whose life threatens their own. Governor Beebe, you'd better veto this bill if it comes across your desk.
