Re: “Another bill to stock the prisons

When it comes to being "tough on crime," these clowns don't even consider what's already on the books or what it costs. If the ACA goes down and we lose the Medicaid Supplement, where will we get the money for prisons? Why don't we have a vote on a statewide sales tax earmarked just for prisons and criminal justice so the voters can have their say? Prisons already cost over $350M just to keep them open. A new one costs over $100M. As Sen. Hutchinson said, we need to be smarter about criminal justice, but our legislature just keeps proving it's profoundly dumb and reactionary to problems that can be alleviated with only a little forward thought. Only an handful in that building seem to have that latter capability.

Re: “Can we get a witness? Arkansas seeks volunteers to watch eight executions, while death penalty opponents continue their fight

Send your capitol reporter to ask legislators about their willingness to watch an execution because of their unwillingness to change anything; i.e., "put your money where your mouth is, Representative [or Senator]." It's not clinical. It's a barbaric ritual with the Director of the ADC reading the death warrant to the strapped down inmate and whether he, in these cases, has any last words. Then the prisoner gasps and changes color. Wendy gets more than Ray Hobbs got. Almost more than Larry Norris. You could see in Norris's face he hated doing it.

Re: “The arts? Who needs 'em? But wait. Even some Republicans might object

Look at Donald Trump's the garishness and ugliness of his personal digs. There's a Lewis Black routine at least a year before the election: "Which picture is the interior of Saddam Hussein's home and which is Donald Trump's?" "Trick question: They're both Donald Trump's." My point it: He doesn't even understand the concept of art. What do you expect from a man that doesn't read and bases his verbal diarrhea on a question on FoxsNews. Not an answer, mind you: A mere off the wall question. President ADD.

Re: “Public officials who block social media accounts may be running afoul of the law

A public official's First Amendment right to free association and free speech doesn't make their social media accounts a public record. They have the right to limit their audience in personal matters, even if public matters get discussed on Facebook or Twitter. Similarly, they don't have to invite the public to a Christmas party where they again celebrate an election win and how they are going to royally screw the public and minorities once the legislative session starts. And, they have no control over republication when one of their limited audience decides to put out what was said. I can't see this decision applying across state lines even if it is based on the Florida public records law or even the First Amendment's right of access. The right of access applies to the legislature and sittings of courts, not musings on Facebook.

Re: “Arkansas House committee endorses bill to end dual Robert E. Lee-ML King holiday

"Rep. Stephen Meeks said the average Arkansan probably doesn't really care about the issue." How clueless. The average Arkansan has grossly offended by the Legislature's caving to the Confederacy two years ago. There is a world outside Arkansas, and even Google got it wrong this year because the whole world knows that guys like him are just plain stupid or, worse, racist.

Re: “Senate passes bill against 'mass picketing'

It's entirely possible that the City of Little Rock would ignore this if it became law because they would not want to be the arresting agency having to defend an obviously unconstitutional arrest.

Re: “Arkansas unemployment rate continues to fall

It's all Obama's fault, the recovery and all that stuff. Trump said those figures were all false until he wants to claim them for himself. But Trump lies about everything.
