Ya know? All Republicans aren't "rich" and I always find it insulting when Obama talks about the wealthy being those making more than $100,000. a year. You have a husband, wife, a few kids, house, cars, insurance, taxes, medical and more - - - and hat money doesn't go far. I do not envy those who are rich, especially those who earned it all on their own. That's everyone's dream to hit the big time/win the lotto/ etc; have a nice home, take vacations with your family.
I noticed on your article above about Bryant you ere making sure you said Jill Dabbs REPUBLICAN Mayor of Bryant. Why not just refer to her as the mayor? I've lived within about a one mile radius of this city I call home since 1959 and have seen many changes over the years. Our Mayor doesn't hold a candle to some of the cronies and do nothings that we have had in the past. She has been trying to restructure the city to be more efficient and run in a more businesslike manner. In over 5 years she has been the ONLY person concerned with some water problems in our area and was gracious enough early on in taking office to meet personally with my husband and I so we could voice some real problems that we were having individually. I think anyone who is a Democrat on the city council is just really getting bent because she is female and a republican. We need to grow up and get some things done in this city.
At one time I had written to ALL the city council members about a certain problem and NONE of them got back to me, not even my own alderman, until I copied the note to Mayor Dabbs and told her I had no response. Well, wouldn't you know it, in about 30 minutes time I had several emails and phone conversations. Why did that have to happen at her urging?
I think the city council needs to stop all their bickering, get real and get 'er done.Bryant is a great place to live.
ALSO - AS PERTAIN TO UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR - someone sent this information to me and I haven't had time to recheck, but I remember that part of it is true. Want to comment on the following:
"Look carefully at the 2014 rate compared to the 2013 rate.
For those of you who are on MEDICARE, read the following. It's short, but important and you probably haven't heard about it in the Mainstream News:
"The per person Medicare Insurance Premium will increase from the present Monthly Fee of
$96.40, rising to:
$104.20 in 2012
$120.20 in 2013
And
$247.00 in 2014."
These are Provisions incorporated in the Obamacare Legislation, purposely delayed so as not to confuse the 2012 Re-Election Campaigns. Send this to all Seniors that you know, so they will know who's throwing them under the bus.
Did you notice who Obama threatened when he wasn't getting his way on raising the debt ceiling?
He threatened to not pay:
Social Security Retirees, Military Retirees, Social
Security disability and Federal Retirees.
Now.. Let this sink in really good -
He did not threaten to stop payments to illegal aliens
He did not threatened to take frivolous benefits such as Internet access away from violent inmates
He did not offer to fire some of the thousands of unnecessary federal employees that he hired
He did not offer to cut down on his or his wife's frivolous gallivanting around
He did not threaten to not pay the senators and representatives or any of their staff
He did not threaten to take benefits away from welfare recipients
He did not threaten the food stamp programs
He did not threaten to not pay foreign aid
He did not threaten to cut back on anything that involves his base voters "

It seems to me that you are all pouncing 'personally' on each other rather than just the facts.
Everyone has a right to voice their opinion - and even if I don't agree with someone - they still have that right. So 'just the facts' please. It's amazing how HAPPY we are when someone 'fails' in some way.

Re: “Robert McCord dies at 84”
Was fortunate enough to work with him at the Arkansas Democrat. Hate to see that he has passed on, but he will be remembered by many from throughout his career. He was what I consider a true 'southern gentleman.'
