Way to be progressive Little Rock. A cyclists is killed and people are complaining about having to merge into another lane to pass cyclists. Next time you hear Arkansas used in joke or reference by your out of town friends this kind of thinking is why....Thanks for making us all look like backwards Rednecks withyour selfish comments and laziness. My prayers go out to Diane's family and I wish the best of holidays.
I wish Diamond Beer would do a Gluten Free....
Finishing the River Trail would be awesome. It would cost allot less in money and publicity, then to wait for someone to sue the city after being hit by a car on Markham or a pedestrian hit on the sidewalk Bike Route signs say to illegally use. I applaud NLR for their great work on the River Trail and laugh at the lack of work LR has done. Also a Bike Lane or two downtown would be nice. LR is the first "city" I've been to since the 1980s that has 0 Bike Lanes downtown. A Bike Lane down Main Street would serve commuters and businesses along the strip. I'm sure RAO Video, Community Bakery, The Root, The Green Store, Boulevard Bread etc, would all see increases in bushiness once people could roll up and not worry about parking etc. Also having more pedestrian and bicycle traffic lends to safe neighborhoods, people get to know each other and notice things that shouldn't be going on...rather than just whizzing by at 40mph.
I can't see "We have freshly repaved ditches" drawing in the professional talent and businesses Little Rock needs to prosper. As far as building a Technology Park, I work in I.T. and I can say my colleagues are NOT going to move themselves nor their businesses from Silicon Valley or Boulder to LR if the city doesn't provide them with the lifestyle perks their accustomed to, nor will LR retain its current talent. We need to use these dollars to attract young talented professionals. This means things like Bike Lanes and walkable shopping and neighborhoods.
