I understand the social issue in this case and in no way mean to minimize it by the following comment. The main issue that seems to be missing from the article is a statement that the legal reality in our criminal justice system is law enforcement and prosecutors are on the same team. That is the single biggest factor in this case, as I see it. If LRPD had not fired the officer and he had not been removed from the "team" (so to speak), it is unlikely charges would have been brought. Similarly, just because someone performed job misconduct warranting termination, that does not mean the person committed a crime or that the prosecution proved a crime was committed beyond a reasonable doubt.
Dempsey Bakery, whether you are gluten-free or not, has amazingly chewey chocolate chip cookies and double-chocolate chip cookies. (No nuts though because they are nut free for other allergy purposes.) http://www.dempseybakery.com/
The last time I was there was on a Friday a few months ago. Tokyo House had a line out the door so we walked over there. I remember the cheese dip was awesome, but can't remember any specifics about my meal except it was good. I hadn't been there in years until that day, and I just haven't made it back. Just too much competition around there.
Love the OB and don't get there enough. Reminds me of the "taverns" up north. Great fried oyster or clam strip po boy and fish po boy. (Can't remember which one I get? Maybe both?)
On my few visits there, the staff has been stand-offish to unfriendly, the Italian entrees have been sub-par, the dinners are not presented with soup or salad, and they do not allow you to get "to go" orders of entrees. And one time they were closed on a Friday evening at 6 p.m. for no apparent reason and no note. But they do have amazing housemade potato chips last I tried them. Sandwiches are good, but just haven't been bold enough to try their version of a philly cheesesteak.
Love DT's and have for years. Exceptional pancakes, great potato casserole, and homemade sausage, but haven't eaten any of these in some time. Of late, I have been partial to California Eggs Benedict or the avacado salad. Also the bourbon pecan pie or carmel pecan pie. Last time I was there was for my birthday brunch, and they let me pick a small picture from the artist that they feature on their walls. So much better than singing and dancing!!
Great to see this place get some press! Always had unique (to Central Arkansas), terrific, housemade, fresh food there, but don't get there often enough. (And yes, they deserve all of those adjectives!!!)

Panther - Yes, but the pressure is mounting. She may not last much longer.
His new pretend religion would have made him a racist if he hadn't started out…
Yes, so much for all of their "religion" s--t but then again, we already knew…
