Love the OB and don't get there enough. Reminds me of the "taverns" up north. Great fried oyster or clam strip po boy and fish po boy. (Can't remember which one I get? Maybe both?)
On my few visits there, the staff has been stand-offish to unfriendly, the Italian entrees have been sub-par, the dinners are not presented with soup or salad, and they do not allow you to get "to go" orders of entrees. And one time they were closed on a Friday evening at 6 p.m. for no apparent reason and no note. But they do have amazing housemade potato chips last I tried them. Sandwiches are good, but just haven't been bold enough to try their version of a philly cheesesteak.
Love DT's and have for years. Exceptional pancakes, great potato casserole, and homemade sausage, but haven't eaten any of these in some time. Of late, I have been partial to California Eggs Benedict or the avacado salad. Also the bourbon pecan pie or carmel pecan pie. Last time I was there was for my birthday brunch, and they let me pick a small picture from the artist that they feature on their walls. So much better than singing and dancing!!
Great to see this place get some press! Always had unique (to Central Arkansas), terrific, housemade, fresh food there, but don't get there often enough. (And yes, they deserve all of those adjectives!!!)
Never heard of this place. Will keep a look-out.
I love crullers too! And they were my favorite glazed donut until I had Shipley's glazed cake donuts. They are less sweet than a cruller, but very similar otherwise. (Never have seen these anywhere else, although I don't go "donutting" often.)
I have always thought Shipley's cake donuts are the best cake donuts I've ever tasted, and you can really tell the quality when you taste one of the plain ones. The filled donuts there are generally at the bottom of my list. Not sure if I'm just getting old and growing out of them or maybe other places do them better?
Love me some Jimmy's. And that's an awesome photo of one of my favorite sandwiches in the area!!
Re: “Cozymel's has closed”
The last time I was there was on a Friday a few months ago. Tokyo House had a line out the door so we walked over there. I remember the cheese dip was awesome, but can't remember any specifics about my meal except it was good. I hadn't been there in years until that day, and I just haven't made it back. Just too much competition around there.
