Re: “Suit filed in Pulaski County to strike down Arkansas ban on same-sex marriage

Questioning the ACLU is being equated to assembling a confederacy of dunces. OK you sound a lot like the Bushites "if you question the government you're anti-American". After experts run the government so they know best.

If anything you make a case for not supporting the ACLU. It's the ACLU knows best, no matter what. If you question them you are a dunce. So anybody who's questioning them on the lawsuit, when should we stupid people assemble?

Re: “Suit filed in Pulaski County to strike down Arkansas ban on same-sex marriage

I didn't get " butthurt" (whatever that means) or complainy. Frankly I was so caught off guard since we were discussing the issues involving child custody & other benefits that come with being married. They didn't like using the term because most people in Arkansas disagree with same sex marriage. So we didn't discuss marriage period. (It didn't have anything to do with sanm sex coming before marriage). It was very civil & I was moderating so I wasn't about to raise a ruckus. I was so caught off guard I continued on. And everybody there was supportive of gay rights. But anyway, yes I didn't like it then nor now that they didn't want to use that term. My guess is they are ok with it now post DOMA ruling (even though a majority of Arkansans are not).

Still I'll reemphasize that I'm a strong supporter of the ACLU but that doesn't mean I have to agree & go along with everything they say. Same goes with any group. And if somebody wants to file a lawsuit more power to them. And I wouldn't be so quick to accuse the lawyer of seeking fame. My last post was more or less me being flabbergasted about somebody saying "never question". I stand by my "always question" if you have doubts about a strategy. Never question is a very bad practice... At least in my opinion.

Re: “Suit filed in Pulaski County to strike down Arkansas ban on same-sex marriage

"Never question its strategy" This couple who wants to be married should just wait because the ACLU says so?! What?! Sorry but that kind of thinking will quickly lead to problems. Never question? If you see something you think is not right, then question it... always. And don't say "same-sex marriage". Really?! I should not use that term. Damn, I thought it was 2013 (or 2012 at the time). I didn't know I should say that if that's what I'm talking about.

I love the ACLU in Arkansas. I think they are a great organization and I'm very happy they are around but that doesn't mean I, nor you, should follow them (or anybody) blindly. If you see or think something is wrong speak up! BTW, the local ACLU did not take down DOMA. We shouldn't say same-sex marriage here in Arkansas so how could they?!

Re: “Suit filed in Pulaski County to strike down Arkansas ban on same-sex marriage

Which reminds me of an event late last year when I was quickly smacked down by the ACLU for saying the words "same sex marriage" while we were discussing same sex couples & parents being denied benefits & rights. I was told they don't like to use that phrase because it turns people off.

Re: “New documentaries at Market Street

Market Street Cinema may be a "dive-of-a-theater" but they have consistently brought Arkansas movies that we never would have seen if not for their hard work. Oh, and it's located in Little Rock not North Little Rock. I'm personally looking forward to "Undefeated".

Re: “Saturday To-Do: Jazz Tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane

Robert, I hope you are right. The very nice woman I spoke with on the phone last night said people have been calling so she asked the manager who said this event was not happening Saturday night. But I'm changing my plans up in hopes that you are right. Thanks for the info!

Re: “Saturday To-Do: Jazz Tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane

I'm sorry, my mistake on the initial post. They said this event is not happening tonight, Saturday.
