Re: the couple of shots on this thread that have been taken at Sabin, bare in mind that, according to articles reporting about this, it was a board decision to fire Smirnoff and the managing editor.... I feel pretty certain that they must have had pretty good reason to do so, otherwise it wouldn't have happened. And with Smirnoff right off the bat admitting that he did something illegal makes you ask ,"what else did he do that he shouldn't have?" And does he feel because he was the founder that he can do whatever he wants and get away with it?? Lastly, Smirnoff, while a gifted man, drove that magazine into the ground a couple of times. If it weren't for Sabin's sound managerial style and business judgment, the OA would have been extinct years ago. As it stands now, by all accounts, the OA is doing great.
Wow, Marc didn't come across well at all here.
A sad, sad story. Let's hope the killer(s) are found and brought to justice soon so that family can find some measure of peace.
It remains to be seen as to whether moving the site was a smart move. However, I support what they're doing.
This isn't about freeloading "hipsters" as some people on this thread have try to described them. It's about Americans using their voices. It's about standing up for what they believe in. It's about promoting positive change for all of us ... the "little guy."
And they aren't doing it from the comforts of their homes. These aren't armchair quarterbacks bitching from the sofa. They're actually in public demanding action.
So, unless you're part of the 1%, I don't see what the problem is. The rest of us, whether we like it or not, are the 99%. Stay strong Occupy Little Rock.
A leopard doesn't change its spots.
Another good ol' boy deal for Richard Mays. Kinda like when he got paid to be an "ombudsman" for the company that harvested tainted blood from Cummins Prison. Then there was the Democratic fund raising scandal he was smack dab in the middle of when he was Vice Chairman of the DNC. I also seem to remember the feds going after him over a HUD scandal re: property in Little Rock. And of course, he represented his crooked friend Judge David Hale during Whitewater.... Beebe should've done better than align himself with this ethically challenged operator.
I consider Philip Martin a friend, but I must admit that I am surprised by his comments back in the day re: his belief in the WM3's guilt at the time. Especially comments like Echol's seems evil, etc. I'd want to go back in time and thump that guy on the head circa 2001. Ten years later I hope and trust that his view on this case has evolved - even since his further comments in 2007. I have always maintained that anyone that took the time to actually examine this case and the "evidence" could easily surmised that there was something rotten in the state of Denmark - er, Arkansas. This is a black stain on the state, and will always be horrible example of another miscarriage of justice. Six boys deserved better.
Re: “Oxford American, Chapter Umpteen”
I heard that a criminal investigation is being asked for.... Any verification of that?
