Re: “Another marijuana proposal rejected by attorney general

If marijuana is so dangerous that it must be outlawed, then society must immediately start arresting anyone who jogs or run races.

Several studies have been published recently connecting the "runner's high," not with endorphins, but with naturally produced endocannabinoids (basically the body's version of cannabis).

The European Journal Of Applied Physiology (Italy), the British Journal of Sports Medicine
(conducted in Georgia) are among the latest to report this conclusion. This cannabinoid observation was reported in a March 2012 edition of Scientific American, complete with citations of several studies.

I'm sure that many towns will revel in rounding up runners and charging them with public intoxication, a boon for many town budgets and less dangerous than pursuing real crime.

Re: “Game day in Little Rock open line

The "Guardian," which has supplanted the NYT as the source of reliable reporting, has a searchable database of killings by police of Americans:

The problem with the database is that killings BY police are under-reported. The FBI and the CDC have not been able to get information from state and local agencies:

There has been a supposition that, due to publication of reports of killings by police, there has been a dramatic increase of the number of police killed. Black Lives Matter has been labelled as responsible for the imagined increase. The National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund has graphs showing "in the line of duty" deaths of police officers refutes that assumption.

The NLEMF is hardly a bleeding-heart liberal group, but their data show that the number of police officers killed is lower than previous years, despite an increase in population and an increase in the number of police officers in this country.

The fear quotient has been elevated by certain media and political factions, causing people to endorse extraordinary powers to their supposed "protectors." The trend in the U.S. has been to endow police with Judge Dredd powers: to be judge, jury, and executioner.

This is along with the trend that police department employees do not even remotely reflect the communities they patrol.

"Shoot to kill" has become has become the unspoken demand by the frightened population. Meanwhile, the qristian politicians chortle and gloat that their ethnic cleansing goals are in place. Like their forebears, Hitler & Goebbels, people like Rapert want to eliminate all who do not believe as they do. Their goal is to cull the population and control them, especially women, more than even ISIL and Boko Haram.

How is there any difference between the Rapert approach and that of an historically failed painter? None.

Attacks on Innocent people who don't speak English ( http://bit.ly/1F5LiPG ), are of different complexion ( http://nyti.ms/1J4jpmj ), Sandra bland ( http://usat.ly/1O8j2Pc ), have disabilities ( the infamous murder Of Joseph Hamley ( http://bit.ly/1FEKMDj ), threats to kill those who disagree, attacks on gays, and hundreds of other examples.

Do we need to wait for an American Kristallnacht before we take action?

Re: “The open line. Plus: The thin blue line

Of course, knowing the mindless set of the Faux news brainwashed, the comments following the report cited below should have been expected, but the elevated temperature of the comments is appalling. Comments on stories from more responsible sources are reflecting a similar trend with higher number than usual "comment deleted" instances.

Rightwing extremists are partying over the death of this police officer.

Re: “Gawker: Josh Duggar had account on cheat-on-your-spouse site

I must emphasize that Josh Duggar and his father went far beyond mere hypocrisy, but used their imaginary positions as symbols of morality to testify for and impose laws to control the rest of us. Their positions were used to subjugate us to exist within their religious extremist doctrines. The "do as we say, not what we do" theme dominates their political machinations.

Women are only tools to males' satisfaction and self-esteem. Rape is not a crime if it allows a "virtuous" male to be satisfied. Pregnancy brands a woman as the property of the male and affirms the masculinity (non-gay) of the sperm donor.

Despite protestations, this is not only a mindset of the trailer park denizens, but is a large part of society as a whole. In true honesty, ask yourself "what is a woman?" The Duggars and their ilk appealed to your dark side and profited. Their pernicious evil has infected political commentary.

Re: “Imagine Benji is gently reading you the news open line

Earlier today, some other person questioned why there appears to be no interest outside of Arkansas that 50,000 people are being deprived of health insurance by ASA's idiocracy.
However, there are dozens of national media outlets covering the tiff between Heidi Klum and Donnie.

You'd expect organizations of health professionals (nurses, docs, etc.), advocacy groups (AARP, Kaiser, Annie E. Casey), or some progressive blog sites would have raising holy hell by now. It seems like the collective silent response has been ... "It's Arkansas, what do you expect?"
