I need to go by there. I'm going back to vinyl, to balance out my time on Pandora and MOG. And I have a 45 by the Romans if any collector nerds want to make me an offer.
Do to the number of unlikes on my comment, I should clarify that the swan was on top of my son and still attacking when I arrived and I kicked to get him off as my yells had not worked. My kick was purely in defending my son. I'm an animal lover, but not at the expense of my boy's health and trauma.
Haven't been there in long time but word to wise, especially if you have kids. If the swans still grace the lake, remember they are territorial and ornery. On a lovely Saturday, my children (then 3 and 8) walked by the pond. I watched as the swan approached and proceeded to down my 3 y/o with several sharp beak jabs. I broke the world speed record for 30 yard dash and delivered a kick to the swan that is probably still a dimple in its breast.
After a few excellent lunches, had dinner at Natchez this week. The gnocchi with crab appetizer lived up to the buzz i had heard and lighter than most gnocchis (a good thing). Had the Osso bucco served over creamy grits. Fork tender meat with the Southern spin of creamy grits. For dessert, a slice of chocolate, coffee, and salt cake, which I would gladly order again. Overall, an excellent meal. Please give this young chef a try.
Thanks for the recommendations. Will the beers all be ones that are distbributed here? I'd love it if they brought in some we can't get -- one in particular, Pliny the Elder by Russian River Brewing. In addition to the cool name, it rates, uh, like 100. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/863/7…. For local beers, I'd add DB Paradise Porter. I love Sam Smith's Taddy Porter but the local porter is no slouch by any means.
Thanks for featuring this. I had been looking for authentic banh mi in LR close to the great ones in the Ft. Smith gas station turned Vietnamese cafe. This one is almost as good. I've had the pork twice and chicken once. Only qualm is twice they've added a liver pate spread that detracts from clean, bright flavors of the vegetables and meat. Oh, and despite the drive thru it's not fast food. Takes at least 10 minutes, but it is definitely worth it and my vote for best under $4 sandwich in Little Rock.
Re: “Cheap, authentic, good”
Al pastor is one of my favorites but there seems to be a wide variation in how it's prepared. Some are pineapple-ly sweet, others are citric sour, and some in between. This sounds definitely worth a try.
