Re: “Michigan pipeline whistleblower John Bolenbaugh visits Mayflower

Good job.
And i'll repost what I said earlier:
it blows my mind that people largely were not and still are not being evacuated. It's a disgrace. Everyone in Mayflower should read "A Civil Action". The full health effects may not be realized for years, that's the scary reality.

The benzene alone is devastating, especially to children and the elderly. From the CDC:

• The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has determined that benzene causes cancer in humans. Long-term exposure to high levels of benzene in the air can cause leukemia, cancer of the blood-forming organs. The major effect of benzene from long-term exposure is on the blood. (Long-term exposure means exposure of a year or more.) Benzene causes harmful effects on the bone marrow and can cause a decrease in red blood cells, leading to anemia. It can also cause excessive bleeding and can affect the immune system, increasing the chance for infection.

•Some women who breathed high levels of benzene for many months had irregular menstrual periods and a decrease in the size of their ovaries. It is not known whether benzene exposure affects the developing fetus in pregnant women or fertility in men.

•Animal studies have shown low birth weights, delayed bone formation, and bone marrow damage when pregnant animals breathed benzene.

Re: “One month after Mayflower, Exxon is upbeat UPDATE: Dustin McDaniel weighs in

Folks in Mayflower and surrounding areas should all read "A Civil Action" and prepare themselves for the very real potential for health problems (especially for their children) in the future. The chemical solvents that are part of this mess are gravely dangerous.

Re: “Local stuff in local boy Jeff Nichols' 'Mud'

That Trusty sticker was on the back window of a pickup truck. I saw a Numbskulz flyer on the living room wall of the uncle's trailer. Also there's a clear shot of a Larry's Pizza!

Re: “UPDATE: Nate Bell shoots from lip on Boston violence; Speaker Carter apologizes for him; Bell apologizes for 'timing'

Man, I just really wish he wouldn't have said that. I don't care what side he's on or anything. I just wish he would have kept that to himself, it's just sad.

Re: “'Private option' Medicaid expansion bill passes Arkansas Senate, on to governor

The exchange is definitely happening, no matter what.

Re: “Botanas bar The Folde coming to Riverdale

yeah cosmo, not even a hint of animosity in your post. What food trend would you prefer in Little Rock? More chains?
