Re: “Bicyclist dies from McCrory wreck injuries

Not sure what happened, sun in the driver’s eyes, inattention, who knows at this point.
What I do know is mixing a several ton vehicle with a bicycle is not a good idea.
Laws, beating your chest about bicyclist’s rights do not change the facts.
Bicycles should not be on the same road as cars, trucks.
Please do not say motorcycles are the same, they have the power to get out of the way and normally are the same speed as other traffic.
That said motorcycles often meet the same fate as bicyclists.
Please do not attempt to argue my point as I am attempting to show my point of view, as such I will not respond.

Re: “Stealth tax cut for the wealthy sprung on committee

Having lived during President Reagan’s “trickle down economy” I can attest to the fact it does indeed trickle down.

Straight down to the rich man’s pocket, where it stays until he needs to buy a new toy.

Which, BTW, will be deductible over a period of a few years making it FREE!!

Re: “The John McCain open line

Senator McCain had my respect, in fact many years ago I wanted him to be our president.
However, his actions of late leave me to question his ability to govern.
If there is no medical reason for his actions then I have lost all respectfor this man.

Re: “Arkansas Times readers pick best restaurants

Gosh, I must be odd man out here.
I have dinned in several of the cities listed at almost a dozen of the establishments named here.

We frequented all on recommendation of several friends.

Not once did we have a “fine” dining experience, the hype FAR outdistanced the cuisine.

In most cases the service was good to excellent.

Re: “Jason Rapert is not happy. He also lies

Rapert told a friendly blogger: "The majority of people in Arkansas oppose the policies of President Obama, including his health care law...

He is correct from what I have seen, what is missing is most citizens of Arkansas are not informed enough to know President Obama's policies.
All they know is Rapert's, Tiny Tim and their ilk's misinformation.
Whenever I attempt to explain a certain policy it is like the person I am talking to is brain dead, might as well be talking to a rock.

Re: “True believers

I keep reading post from those screaming the government is going to take away our guns.
The gun control act of 1968 was brought about after President Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.
The Brady Bill of 1993 was a result of President Reagan being shot by John Hinckley, Jr.
Today’s efforts are to limit the number of bullets a clip/barrel can hold and to eliminate rapid fire weapons such as the AR-15.
As a person who owns a firearm and spent many hours in the woods hunting I see no harm with these proposals.
I can also see that these restrictions will not stop a deranged person from killing at will, maybe, just maybe they will not be able to kill or injure as many if these limits are enforced.
Some will argue it is a slippery slope to where all weapons are confiscated.
If that is true why do we still have them since the 1968 and 1993 acts?
Folks need to get a grip and use their brain for more than a paperweight to keep their head connected.
The Gun Control Act of 1968, Public Law 90-618
An Act to amend title 18, United States Code, to provide for better control of the interstate traffic in firearms
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, that this Act may be cited as the "Gun Control Act of 1968".
Title I -- State
Firearms Control
Sec. 101. The Congress hereby declares that the purpose of this title is to provide support to Federal, State, and local law enforcement officials in their fight against crime and violence, and it is not the purpose of this title to place any undue or unnecessary Federal restrictions or burdens on law-abiding citizens with respect to the acquisition, possession, or use of firearms appropriate to the purpose of hunting, trapshooting, target shooting, personal protection, or any other lawful activity, and that this title is not intended to discourage or eliminate the private ownership or use of firearms by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes, or provide for the imposition by Federal regulations of any procedures or requirements other than those reasonably necessary to implement and effectuate the provisions of this title.

Re: “Church goes to school in Conway

Wow, where do I start?
As a former Youth Director I recognize the need for our youth to learn about the Bible.

However, I have been disappointed by every single church I have belonged to or visited in the last 25 years in respect to how churches in America have gotten away from the Bible.

I am a firm believer in separation of church/state.
That leaves me with one choice, children must be taught at home, not school.

I realize this is my personal belief so please do not attempt to dissuade me or make your point utilizing my post, make your comment based purely on your thoughts.

BTW- I live in Conway and have children and grandkids in Conway schools.
I hope our school board stops this practice as I do not want them influenced by persons unknown to me.
