Like other Republicans, it may just be that Mr. Cotton lacks empathy or is incapable of the evolutionarily-advantageous emotion until he personally experiences similar problems. Probably gay himself, it explains his empathy toward the LGBT community by remaining silent rather than hostile, and thus avoiding the ramifications of violating the Frank Rule. With no children of his own, his lack of empathy might explain his relative-punishing amendment. We shudder to think what this man, with this relatives-be-damned ideology, may have done in his years in Iraq and Afghanistan as a military commander.

Shamelessly using this comment threat to share our final word for the week:
Senator Rapert implied that 40 percent of American women, including tens of thousands of Arkansans, are genocidal murderers. Oy vey!
What do you think?

May Day! Is it not time to arrest Rex Tillman, or at least call him in for questioning? Corporate officers far too often get away with causing environmental damage. Dustin McDaniel ought to change that when it comes to crimes in Arkansas.

Great summary and inspirational to us. The poor-people-can-wait 89th General Assembly is complete (for now). What did you think of the acts passed and passed over by the Republican-dominated body? Please vote in our polls and leave a reply giving your thoughts on the session. Let the debate begin!

Some Arkansans are calling on the city of Mena to pass a resolution condemning Nate Bell and asking for his resignation. The mayor's email is menacity1896@sbcglobal.net.

Nate Bell is a son of a...gun.
Anyone familiar with Mr. Bell’s twitter account knows him to be quite a sensitive creature. To his credit, he regularly engages with constituents, but his responses tend to be condescending, dimwitted, and show a real mean streak typical of a bully. He takes great umbrage at many comments that attack him and is not the sort of person who lets a comment roll off his sleeve. This latest tweet is more evidence of his hypocrisy in this matter.
As to the point made by his joke tweet, it betrays the usual ignorance and stupidity that personifies Mr. Bell. Armed or not, Bostonians are right to be fearful of terrorists who bombed the Marathon in broad daylight, have killed an armed police officer, and wounded another cop. The man at large has evaded capture, even when in the presence of law enforcement. The police have instructed all residents to remain in their homes and avoid going out in public. Every resident, even if armed, is cowering in her home right now.

For someone who constantly complains about a lack of civility, Nate Bell sure can be a pompous, hurtful, and dimwitted son of a...gun.
The town of Mena should be ashamed of itself for electing this man.
