@jrb: You've got it backwards.
@Hugh, the ticket covers food and music. You've gotta buy drinks.
@Grizz: A vegetarian festival might be a good idea. But these ain't the hogs (or hog farmers) you're mad at. These are coming from Falling Sky Farm and Freckle Face Farm, small operations in Marshall and McRae, respectively, who let their pigs range free in their woods and don't use any sort of hormones or antibiotics.
From commenter givemestrength, who is having trouble logging in:
The Broadway Bridge is not just about moving automobile traffic. The bridge will connect an historic neighborhood on the north side to the downtown of the State's capital city on the south side. The original bridge was never state-of-the-art but it was built with grace and integrity and pride, and has served us for generations. This new design is an embarrassment. And, btw, money is not that big of an issue. The Highway department low-balled its estimate on the I-630/I-430 interchange at $70 M - it is now $175 M and counting. Don't tell me it can't spare some money to build a good bridge that we can all be proud of.
Maybe this is the highway department's job, but after driving 10 hours from Indiana, almost entirely through area that got snow and ice, it was pretty galling to encounter our first interstate ice on the I-30 bridge. Got stuck going over big stretches of it on the on-ramp to I-630 and again--on an entire lane--near the Woodrow Street exit. Even if we don't have the equipment to deal with snow and ice like they do in the Midwest, you'd think that--whoever's responsibility it is--we could at least manage to get what might be the busiest thoroughfares in Central Arkansas cleared almost two days after the storm.
That's one we don't have yet, but I'm deeply skeptical. Does it have a hot dog car? An ant bus? A mobile apartment complex? A condiment-splattering massive pile-up?
