As if what's "taking place" at LRSD is some easily characterizable monolithic thing.

Is what's going on at Fulbright and Roberts the same thing that's going on at ML King and Gibbs?

Beware the person who speaks in sweeping generalizations about complex institutions.

Spunkrat, I’ll have to admit I don’t know what’s taking place in Little Rock schools these days, but I’m only tangentially affected by what does and doesn’t happen there. Our kids attended Little Rock schools and graduated from Central with an education good enough to be successful in college. However, if we had to educate our kids today, there’s a good chance we would go deep into debt and send them to private schools rather than send them to Little Rock public schools.

      Quote of the day:

"What needs to be acknowledged, however, is that school reform won’t fix everything. Though some poor students will succeed, others will fail. Demonizing teachers for the failures of poor students, and pretending that reforming the schools is all that is needed, as the reformers tend to do, is both misguided and counterproductive.

Over the long term, fixing our schools is going to involve a lot more than, well, just fixing our schools. In the short term, however, the reform movement could use something else: a dose of humility about what it can accomplish — and what it can’t."

I encourage folks to read works written about poverty by Ruby Payne.
Admittedly I only scanned the resumes. But it's clear based on the resumes, that if these are the finalists...the LRSD school board has NO IDEA what's really taking place in their schools. None at all.
