Many people are willing to place blame without knowing all of the facts. Myself, I'd like to see the crash report before I pass judgement. That being said, I've known J.R. Howard for a long time and I don't see him being party to a whitewash or a lynching.

I'm not sure I understand the crash details. It seems that she pulled out in front of the police car. I understand the officer was traveling at 103 miles an hour and wasn't using his lights or siren. Certainly, that alone places a lot of the blame on him. But if she either stopped or slowed substantially at the intersection, that seems to indicate that the officer had the right of way. No?

I don't think the State Police have a union, no other state employees do. I don't know who is representing Rhew, but I'm pretty sure it's not a union lawyer (as there is no union).

Once again a lowly arkansas family gets slapped in the face by an Arkansas court. Another good ol boy's negligence protected by the big blue wall! Under the same circumstances we wouldn't have received the same deal. We would be in Cummins entertaining our bunkmate for 8-10 years with time off for good behavior. How much do you want to bet that the very lawyer who saved his butt was on retainer to either the benevolent policeman's association or whomever Rhew paid his union dues to and that Rhew paid very little out of his own pocket? I, and most of you, wouldn't be able to afford such a high-powered attorney.

Arkansas residents are granted driving licenses after demonstrating they can operate a vehicle under their normal operating conditions.

Seems to me any person given a position of Ark Trooper should show competency they can operate a vehicle going 100 mph since that is one of their normal operating conditions.

Same with their weapons. Shooting an unarmed fellow who is lying on the pavement surrounded by other officers with their weapons drawn. Tragedy or criminal intent? Where are the trooper tests for life/death judgment?

What "deal" can the officer cut with the judge seems to be the standard by which they behave. Now that I think of it that's the same modus operandi of criminals.
