littlelivi, you are remembering a long ago time that never existed. Back in the late 30's, students in my brother-in-law's high school in Ulysses, Kansas dangled their English teacher out of a second floor class room window. I think most of them were probably "good" church-going xtians.

I do not see a problem in teaching the children a love for JESUS. As long as the religion is non denomination that way your not teaching a religion that the family does not believe in. If we allowed JESUS to be in our schools maybe there would be less violence like there was years ago

Let me get this right. Harris and his supporters claim that no public funds used for their religious activities, so no problem taking $900,000 a year in tax dollars for growing the secular kingdom. If that analysis holds, then expect Shiloh Christian and Catholic High to be lining up for public funding of their operations.

I also live in West Fork. There is another rumor around town that the city absorbed the astronomical cost of providing sewer service to his home. His conservative religious friends will rally around him, because they see the world as he does. But I am surprised at the number of people who live here who do not think highly of him. His district has been redrawn and renumbered. I don't know of an announced opponent yet, but it will be interesting to see how he fares in the next election.

When you have a "friend" in the DHS and the ABC funding program, it's amazing what you can get away with! These people are something else, if everyone knew what really went on in that preschool they'd really be shocked! Such as... they not only teach children their so called Christian values, but also teach parents(illegal immigrants included) how to steal and lie to the government, so that they will receive free funding for their children!! Someday soon, it will ALL come out to the public! I wonder how the government feels about paying for their remodel on their home??

The GGK site says it has room for 147 children, ages 0-3yr. If we divide $900,000 by that number we get $6122 for each child.
We can assume much of the work done at the school is done by volunteers and faculty.
Also I got this from their FaceBook site:
"We have kicked off our candy bar fundraiser! The family that sales the most with receive 50% off one child's tuition for the summer."
There is other indications of fund raising at this school on their FB page, and, they are also charging tuition? One wonders how much tuition costs.
Sounds all pretty lucrative to me.

So, basically it sounds like Harris is using taxpayer's money to fund a pre-school for children of possibly illegal workers who are providing cheap labor to his rich friend's factories. Since they are poor, they are a captive audience to the religious message Harris is pushing. Better be some fine schooling for almost ONE MILLION taxpayer's dollars per year.

And, conservative, nothing else has changed in the past 30-40 years than the SCOTUS ruling about religion in public schools? I guess that law also made parents not take their kids to church and/or, not give Christian, or other religious, training in the home. The issue is not that you want prayer in schools but you want a specific kind of prayer following the precepts of one sect of the Christian religion (probably CoC or SBC). If they are going to pray, shouldn't it be one of the liturgical apostolic denominations which actually have a long history, not some Johnny-come-lately sect?

Teachers have become the primary "parent" in too many kids lives due to failure of the parent(s) to do their job.

The "Growing God's Kingdom" sign should be enough cause to disqualify that day care operation for any tax funds. The DHS policy, "In general, the Division instructs programs who receive state pre-k funding that funding cannot be used to pay for religious materials/curriculum," is absurd, if the announced purpose of the whole operation is "growing God's kingdom." As has been pointed out, there are no Christian children. There are children of Christian parents, but no federal or state government funds should be used to establish a religion in the minds of future adults.

Google Public Law 84-140. First thing in the morning, the kids are affected by this, leading to the problems that you mention.
