People screw around & the more money or fame the more likely they are to stray-- if that doesn't affect the job they were hired to do then I really don't care, nor should you. If it is the local taxi driver getting some on the side you don't care as long as the seat's not sticky & It's no different if the coach is a good at his job-- it's irrelevant.

Bobby Petrino’s Full Statement

Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino was suspended Thursday. The following is a statement from Petrino.

Statement from Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino:

“The state police report provides an accurate description of my accident, which includes details that had not publicly come to light prior to the report being issued. I regret that I have not publicly acknowledged a passenger on the vehicle. I have been in constant pain, medicated and the circumstances involving the wreck have come out in bits and pieces. That said I certainly had a concern about Jessica Dorrell’s name being revealed. In my press conference, I referred to her simply as ‘a lady.’ My concern was to protect my family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public. In hindsight, I showed a serious mistake in judgment when I chose not to be more specific about those details. Today, I’ve acknowledged this previous inappropriate relationship with my family and those within the athletic department administration.

I apologize to my wife, Becky, and our four children, Chancellor (David) Gearhart, Jeff Long, the Board of Trustees, University administration, my coaching staff, student-athletes and the entire state of Arkansas. I have been humbled by the outpouring of concern and get well wishes. I apologize to the Razorback Nation for the attention my actions have brought to the University of Arkansas and our program. I will fully cooperate with the University throughout this process and my hope is to repair my relationships with my family, my Athletic Direction, the Razorback Nation and remain the head coach of the Razorbacks.”

Monica Lewinsky was 22 or 23 when the incidents with Clinton occurred. I hesitate to call it an affair. And Lewinsky bragged to friends before she left Lewis and Clark College in Portland for D.C. that seduction was her goal. I have no illusions about Bill Clinton's behavior. The seduction was at least mutual, requiring very little effort on both their parts. I don't mean to make Lewinsky the villainess. I also don't give her a pass for her responsibility in the whole mess. The real villains were Mellon-Scaife and his minions and that sanctimonious prick, Ken Starr. There were others like the hypocritical Gingrich and other Congress critters---some from Arkansas.

I think you are underestimating feminine wiles and the willingness of many of us to use them. I also think you probably have a daughter and instinctively feel protective. The reaction of most fathers when their daughters start dating often borders on hysteria---it did in my ex. Mothers know that those 16 or 17 year old boys aren't the dangerous young animals they fancy themselves to be; after all, we survived them. Moms also know their husband wasn't the dangerous young animal he thought he was either.

My major concern is that taxpayer money is going to protect a football coach. Really? Are you kidding me? With all the problems out there our tax money is being used to protect a non-elected person? It's football people not life saving or something else important. How many other sports coaches get this benefit paid by citizens? How much does this cost us? If he needs protection then the folks out there who rabidly support football above anything else need to pay for it with their personal money. Raise money from donors to pay for it. Just don't use tax money for something so ridiculous. Maybe those who want protection for him should hire the Stephens security force.

I would recommend you read DBI's post above about this type of conduct. As is often the case, he nails it as far as men and women are concerned. One further comment. How could you not be concerned about the young lady in this incident?
