Doigotta, I totally agree.
And, Norma, you are spot on, too.
I never heard of Rosen until this hit the news a couple of days ago. So who really cares what this woman has to say? Ann Romney, apparently, and the other fanatics who are ready to jump on anything and anyone who would DARE to suggest that she doesn't know shit about the real world and what 90% of the rest of us women go through every day.
As I signed my name on the check made out to the Department of the Treasury tonight, I thought about all the corporations who pay nothing and the people who have offshore accounts. Sure, raising children is noble and it's hard work, but it's even harder when you HAVE TO WORK to pay the bills. Rosen did not have to apologize, even though she did.

Rosen put her foot in her mouth, not doubt about it. But it seems to me quite a few among us here are doing the same thing. How about we focus on the candidate's views and accomplishments -- or lack thereof?
You don't think much of Mormonism? Can't say I do either, but I happen to know a few Mormon folks I'd trust with my life. I can say the same of some Baptist folks, although I can't abide some or all of their religious beliefs. Catholics either. In fact, name virtually any religion and my reaction most likely would be the same.
Dressage? Okay, not at the same level, I'm sure, but I had a redneck friend who enjoyed the hobby for years. Yeah, it could be expensive, even participating mostly on a local level. So?
Never having worked outside the home? Bet there are a lot of women out there who decided they HAD to go to work, only to realize belatedly that they are simply supporting daycare for their children, fast food or frozen meals, maybe a new car and a needlessly large house with the mortgage payment that matches -- or rather, exceeds -- it. But they can't get off the merry-go-round.
Point?
It's about choices, including my choice to look past the drivel about trappings. Truth be told, I'm not nearly as concerned about Romney as I was about some of the Republican also-rans.
So would I vote for him, you ask?
Are you kidding? He's a Republican, and not a Republican in the mold of Winthrop Rockefeller -- who, incidentally, was the first of two Republicans I've ever voted for! (The other one was a Rockefeller, too.)

First, her name's Ann, not Anne (though she doubtless owns a thousand gables).

She went to private school. Her dad was notoriously anti-organized-religion. Smitten with the Romney scion, Ann of course converted to the Mormon religion.

She has MS. Thanks to her treatment, doesn't let it get her down. She's received recognition in dressage, an incredibly expensive and elitist hobby not shared by many soccer moms, involving horses, shows and riding togs.

Ms. Rosen rightly called the Romney campaign for touting Ann as some knowledgeable expert in touch with the day-to-day financial worries of heartland women.

She's not. Rosen was right.

Ann's never worked outside the home a day in her life. Never not had help. Never scrimped, saved, budgeted, gone without, seen her husband lose his job, been on unemployment, not had health insurance or food on the table -- or two Cadillacs -- for herself or her family. Ann knows NOTHING about the economy or politics or much of anything else, really.

Ann and Mitt are the Donnie and Marie of politics.

Horses. That Ann knows a little about. Gaits. That's it. The woman's a parrot.

Have you ever talked to her? My god! Mormons! What IS it with the phony smiles and robot eyes? They KNOW you know the truth about Joseph Smith and the Golden Tablets and the Seer Stones and Moroni and Kolob and all the ridiculous rest of it.

What I cherish in those rare situations where one must actually engage with Mormons is mentioning, oh, their Holy Underwear or their baptizing the dead -- including Jewish Holocaust victims -- and watching their motherboards fry.

There might be some hope if they drank, but they don't so there isn't. And we've already had one dry-drunk as POTUS so everybody knows how that worked out.

Look. Some of the best people I know are incredibly wealthy.

They're not Republicans and CERTAINLY not Mormons. If you've ever known ex-ones, you know why.

The giveaway with replicants, the one human quality aliens have yet to successfully synthesize in most of their incredibly lifelike pod-people automatons from another world, is a sense of humor.

When everything's scripted, the ever-changing ad-lib world is scary.

You're welcome, Outlier. Yes, Bill Donohue is beyond odious. He has been actively assisting the U.S. Catholic bishops to try to beat up on and break the back of the group Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP).

As you may know, SNAP is the leading group in the U.S. assisting survivors of childhood sexual abuse by Catholic priests.

Donohue rakes in a hefty salary of some $400,000, and it would be interesting to know who funds his right-wing Catholic League, which is really nothing but a front for the GOP within the American Catholic church. It's also interesting that he shares an office building with the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Timothy Dolan, who never misses an opportunity to pat Donohue on the back.

April 18th marks the 70th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid on Japan by men that I consider the bravest and noblest of America at that time. Army pilots flying B-25s took off from an aircraft carrier on a daring one way flight that many considered a suicide mission. They provided the first offensive strike at Japan following Pearl Harbor. My sincere thanks to those courageous men.

      Hahahahahahaha

FFS.
I'm supposed to think Mittens (or Ann) has any clue what life is like for women in this country because Ann exercised "choice" and stayed home with her kids.
It makes me laugh.

And this is the divide. For Ann to stay home they never had to decide if they could live with just one car (and never no new ones) or no vacations or if they should downsize to a smaller home (or live in a dbl wide instead) or any number of things working and middle class families have to think about before one parent stays home. Ann and Mitt also support taking away the most important "choice" that a woman can make in her life.
I also have a feeling they do not think gov't support of moms who want to stay home (ie welfare) with their young children is a good idea. THAT would be socialism and just giving in to an entitlement mentality like say those women in Europe.

Ann and Mitt never had to wonder if they could pay those medical bills. They never had the Doctor tell them they were "a non-compliant patient" because they would not get a scan they knew they could not afford this year. They never had to worry if they would have to declare bankruptcy once the cancer treatments were finally done. Ann never had to say "no" to a medical treatment because of the cost.

sigh.

BTW, over last 20 years I have been a SAHM, a working mom, and a SAHM who homeschooled with an online business and really, being a mom who worked outside my home was just harder. Physically and mentally. It just was.
Oh please SalineRepublican. Republicans don't even want to allow women the ability to choose how many children they want or if they even want kids. Republicans want insurers to be able to deny a woman birth control pills and they are making it hard for women to obtain abortions.
You might also recall that Republicans are also against raising the minimum wage, something that would help working families.
Republicans also want to slash the Pell Grant, a grant which is used by lots of women; most of the recipients are women.
We also have less economic freedom due to the fact that Republicans are against single-payer healthcare, something which could be very great for our country.
Need I continue?

The Heritage Foundation article written by Rachael Sheffield noted:
the Obama Administration’s big government policies make it more difficult for families to make ends meet, restricting mothers’ ability to choose their ideal work situations. Burdensome taxes along with a rising national debt not only mean that families have less economic freedom today and that future generations will be strapped with the debt created by their predecessors.

Mothers are a priceless resource to their children, families, and the nation. Policies should support mothers—and fathers—who work hard every day to nurture the next generation of Americans.

Here's what I understand humane and moral people to think and act upon:

The children of EVERYONE count.

Regardless of race, ethnic origin, religious background, or socio-economic status.

And the children of the poor need very special consideration, because they're more vulnerable.

Is this what you mean by being committed to humanity and morality, I wonder?

Outlier, see Mollie Wilson O'Reilly at "Commonweal" magazine's blog on the tweet (which does seem to be directly from Bully Bill Donohue: http://www.commonwealmagazine.org/blog/?p=….

Note that, as O'Reilly points out, he's spent recent weeks tweeting one nasty tweet after another about lesbians--with whom the poor fellow seems positively obsessed.

For what it's worth, I blogged about this today: http://www.bilgrimage.blogspot.com/2012/04….

My reading: it's not accidental that Bully Bill issued his nasty tweet about Hilary Rosen the same day the U.S. Catholic bishops issued yet another screed in their phony "religious freedom" war.

This is all driven by pro-GOP political activism. It's nasty in the extreme, and deeply immoral and anti-Christian.

Right, Sh*tlock, the Republicans are the only ones that lie. Finally, you find a fact! Must have been hard.

The key point about Ann Romney is that she had all the comforts of money and not having to worry about the next doctor's appointment vs food on the table. There is no way that Ann Romney can even think, much less speak, for the working women of America who do all she did and still worked to keep their families togetehr.

And those AR divorces-it is all of the "christians" who marry for "better or worse" and can't seem to find the better. The children always bear the brunt and frequently feel that they caused it while the parents can tend to use them as pawns. It is the "christian" GOP southern states that lead the country in divorces and 2nd and 3rd (or more) marriages while that bastion of liberals, Massachusetts, is one with the lowest divorce rates in the country. You will make some fool connection I am sure but you have more time to invent stuff than I have to waste on this.
