DBI, it isn't the call, it is the hysteria and hate that went along with the call. It was the demands and the riots in some areas and the tone that has permeated the incident.

I have had no problem with asking questions or finding of facts. It is a lie, though, to think that what has happened with these calls and the speeches and the protests has been a desire for protest.

I will tell you what I did do the times I was followed by someone who did not seem to like my presence in their neighborhood. I didn't attack, I just turned around and loudly asked, "May I help you with something, or do we need to wait for the cops?" Being prepared, as usual, I was ready for a fight, but hoping it wouldn't go there. He never knew I was prepped, and I kept a sharp eye just in case he was packing something. As it happened, the cops settled things to everyone's satisfaction and I continued on my way.

What happened that night was an anomaly in this country, which is why it is such bog news. All these calls, from you and other idiots, that it is racism, that it shows up a bad law that it happens every day is a vicious lie that has only one purpose, to create hate and a schism in this country.

it was a night of idiocy. On all parts. The trial should show us a few things that have not been seen before, but murder is a stretch.

As far as my daughter...My concern isn't so much about racism as it is about rape. Considering that rape and assault is a real concern, not these anomalous incidents, I taught her how to handle those situations. When he and her sister were attacked, she used a pencil to stab her assaulter. I know what I id in that incident. I called the cops, I thanked my friend who helped her after she defended herself and her daughter, and I went hunting for the guy, which I never found. As far as anything else, it depends. Facts matter to me in how I act because I also know that actions have consequences. The folks that have been shrillest about the incident, that have been fanning the flames of race division do not realize the consequences of their 'demands' and they will not accept their culpability if some towns burn as a result of this trial. Of course, even on this board, I have read that was the desire of some.

Oh Steven, the 3 member new Black Panther Party....really? Calling for a trial for a grown man who shoots a kid dead isn't much of an example of bile & hate. If Jesus of Nazareth shot one of your kids when he was walking home I'd be demanding the same damn thing...a trial in hopes that justice be done. Why does such a thing offend you and Drack?

And what would you do if you were walking along bothering no one and some bozo started following you, getting ever closer as you walked along on a rainy night? Wouldn't you turn around and ask what the fuck they were following you for....assuming the Martin kid did such a thing. Then what would you do if the sombitch pulled out a gun? Why such suspicion of a black teenager? It's easy to sniff racism here and think poorly of you guys....

As far as ALEC is concerned we need a list of every one of their sponsors so we can do to ALEC what we did to Rush Limbaugh. Remove the money and these cancers will dry up. Make an example of these rightwingers undermining our government and it might prevent the next cancerous group from forming. And let us plan now to not vote for any elected official in the state of Arkansas with connections to ALEC. Let's clean house!

Those are the 'facts' the prosecutor is laying out for justification on their over reach on the warrant. A trial will iron out, or should iron out, the real facts of what happened that night.

I figured a good manslaughter charge was justified, but this prosecutor seems to be setting up the trial for failure, which would be disastrous. This is, after all, the state that lost the Casey Anthony trial, and they had a hell of a lot more evidence for that indictment. What will happen if the prosecutor botches this case? Riots? Will DBI be happy, then, when the Panthers lynch Zimmerman after he is set free, again?

Thing is, now, with the kettle drums being beat about racism this and racism that, some in the various black communities are beginning to respond, not with the wisdom of MLK, but the the bile and hate of DBI. Hoodies are getting popular, along with resentments where none used to be.

Got an email from a friend in NC. He was pissed. His daughter came home crying. She wanted to know why the boys called her a cracker and why they no longer want to play with any of the other white kids in the neighborhood. These were folks he lived near, had helped, and been helped and had been pretty tight. The whole neighborhood was eclectic and seemed immune from the manic stupidities of the world at large.

But the hysteria and deceit about this whole insane situation has gotten out of control. It is no longer about justice. Few people care about justice anymore. They think there is a flawed law, they think there is an issue of racism, they are morons and asshats. And they have dictated the tempo of this misadventure in justice. We have already seen cases of groups of black kids beating on mexican kids for the crime of not being black. In one case in Palmdale, it actually looks like they will go with the Hate Crime law on those punks. But the brew is stirred and the consequences will be dire, and these mobs of perpetual idiots will always scream it is about guns and race and any catch phrase they latch onto.

@Drackman: "Just let the facts play out in court."

They're already playing out. From the affidavit of Florida State Attorney Angela Corey, charging George Zimmerman with second-degree murder:

"Zimmerman disregarded the police dispatcher and continued to follow Martin who was trying to return to his home."

And:

"Martin was on the phone with a friend and described to her what was happening. The witness advised that Martin was scared because he was being followed through the complex by an unknown male and didn’t know why. Martin attempted to run home but was followed by Zimmerman who didn’t want the person he falsely assumed was going to commit a crime to get away before the police arrived. Zimmerman got out of his vehicle and followed Martin. When the police dispatcher realized Zimmerman was pursuing Martin, he instructed Zimmerman not to do that and that the responding officer would meet him. Zimmerman disregarded the police dispatcher and continued to follow Martin who was trying to return to his home.

Zimmerman confronted Martin and a struggle ensued."

The 17-year old boy whom Zimmerman then shot in the chest was armed only with a bag of Skittles.

These are the facts.

The Florida Attorney General's second-degee murder affidavit is here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/89120098/George-…

      Drackman

Trayvon Martin had not yet reached the age of majority.

I am 50+ now and consider my high school self to have been a kid. Although over 6' tall.

Being short or tall does not restrict rights nor increase responsibility.

Just try to plead "she was only 13 but she was tall judge!"

The grownup has the responsiblity.

The dispatcher seems aware Zimmerman was not sufficiently trained to be pursuing the suspicious person because it seems the dispatcher was aware the untrained could put themselves and all around in jepardy.

The dispatcher knew having an untrained armed person running around is a danger to himself, the suspect, the responding officers, and all in the "gated community".

To me gated community is generally a single family detached housing neighborhood.

I saw the pictures, that was more like an apartment or condo complex of multifamily high density residential. If I were a resident I would objected strongly to an armed untrained watch running around my complex.

I was involved in creating the Oak Forest Neighborhood Watch, one of the city's oldest back in the mid 80's. We specifically restricted all watch personel to radio only, no arms. We did not want personel to put themselves in harms way. We wanted them only to be ears and info for police.

An armed person will stay longer in a situation that could become dangerous and go into a situation that was already dangerous.

Who wants gun play near their home when a Glock 9mm can go through a window and kill a TV watching resident?
"You'll recall that a child, Trayvon Martin, armed with Skittles was gunned down by a man . . ."

Oh come one already, stop with the "child" crap. I've seen several reports that he was, in fact, at least 6 feet tall, taller than Zimmerman I believe, and he was no longer the little doe-eyed boy in the photo everyone continues to run. Just let the facts play out in court. The mischaracterization of Martin's appearance does nothing except show your rush to judgment in this matter. I'll just remind everyone that LRPD Det. Noel Don McGuire was gunned down by 15 and 16 year-old "children." Arkansas State Trooper Robbie Klein took a shotgun blast to the face from an 18 year-old "child," ending his life. And I know that Trayvon had never been in trouble before and was not armed. I'm just merely pointing out that, first of all, Trayvon's age at the time, which I seriously doubt that Zimmerman could have accurately estimated in the dark, nor his physical stature, which certainly was not that of a child, should have caused him to conclude that Martin was just a happy-go-lucky kid, skipping down the street in the rain, enjoying his Skittles and an iced tea. Lets see what the facts reveal in court.
