Eureka's heart may be in the right place, but his mind is muddled. He simply can not understand the concept of relativism. As Outlier says, he does yearn for some kind of unreachable utopia, which really might not be utopia at all. I don't understand him/her. Of all the bloggers here, he/she is the hardest to fathom. Eureka cannot be dismissed, because he raises some good points. But he has no alternatives. As Lyndon Johnson said about Barry Goldwater, "He has all the answers, but none of the solutions."

Like a good brownshirt, outlier... It is most telling of all things you attack a call for rule of law by dismissing it as Utopian. Clearly, we know where your priorities are. You just want your criminal du jour to indiscriminately torture and assassinate, even mere suspects rather than have the other side of the coin do it. You love war criminals you've never met like they were your child. This is your utopia and you seem determined to keep the arm chair quarterbacking clearly in the gossip for criminality section... You and so many other 'Democrytes" pivot and attack the patriot who is simply holding up the mirror, which is exactly like the Rovians did a couple of short years ago, The Clintonians and Bush Seniors etc. before that.. I know this because my fears, my principles have remained the same on these issues no matter who abandons the rule of law while waging global tyranny.

History has been here many many times... it has never ended well for mad empires... nor should it.

Good lord, Eureka. Why don't you tell us what you really think? Let me know when you find that utopian world with none of the mess that reality brings. Tell me where it is so I can avoid it because I guarantee it will soon be as big a mess as you perceive this one to be.
And Sunshine, some links with more than anonymous sources would be nice to compliment your blatherings. I was unclear from the link you provided whether the "source" was a Whitehouse insider or a Washington DC insider.
Sunshine, I doubt very much that Richard Clark warned bin Laden about anything. He was the lone voice in the wilderness, a carry-over from the Clinton administration, in the Bush administration trying to get GWB's attention about thim to no advail until September 11th. GWB was too busy playing president. Clark was the expert, and still is the expert on the whole subject of terrorism, that wasn't important enough for Bush or Rice to listen.

It is ironic that Bill Clinton is stumping for Obama on the subject, of killing BinLadin. After all it was Clinton and his NSC advisor Mr. Brennan who allowed BinLadin to escape . When Yemin offered him to the US . I also recall Mr Brennan, who is also the current NSC advisor, stopping another Kill or capture raid on BinLadin. When that raid was close to fruition. On account of the fear of civilian casulity,s . Another Clinton advisor a Mr. Richard Clark CIA Tipped off BinLadin , when the bombs were about to fall on his hunting camp . Because Mr. Clark was afraid for the health of some UAE princelings, who were keeping bad company with UBL on that opportune day. Mr Clinton should remember his failings, on the subject and keep his mouth shut . So as not to bring attention to his utter failure to deal with BinLadin On his own watch.
Apparently the chickenhawk's best buddy in Isreal is in a heap of trouble and may have to call special elections rather than go and attack Iran. When the Isreali military says you haven't exhausted all options, that is one heck of a put down.

Now Romney wants to put on the Bush flight suit and lead the way (like most officers from the rear), I'll agree for tax dollars to be used NOW so he can show us what a great leader he is. He has two positions on everything so I guess it is a good thing that paper signs have two sides. That saves having to replace them that often.

Politics is a raw gritty game. Obama may have held off on taking out Bin Laden for many reasons we probably won't know about until years later. Personally, I am glad they did not parade his body around and his burial at sea was a good way to let the terrorists know they will not have a chance for honor.
Of course Obama and Biden are trying to score political points of of assassinating Bin Laden... as they are off of so many other egregious (should be) war crimes... such as drones upon innocents... even innocent American Citizens. We are bipartisan global terrorist run amok. If there is a Goddess... the wrath we deserve is as bad as any in history.

This makes me nearly physically ill. To watch so-called Democrats cheer with/like Republicans for the complete capture of an unarmed suspect then blatant assassination, and hidden burial instead of a trial. If ever a war crimes tribunal were needed... it is for both Obama and Bush... for the rule of law... which our bipartisan nation has not only abrogated but led the way globally.

Democrats, Republicans... you are all dangerous primordial lawless beasts. I will have nothing to do with you ever again... and fear for my countries, thus the worlds future because of you both arguing like this.

There is no truth, there is no rule of law honored by any of your criminal parties. You deserve exactly the vitriolic stupid arguments you have with each other every day. I voted for Barack Obama in 2008, and I’m still happy that he won. I’ll vote for him again in 2012. This doesn’t mean that I’m satisfied with every decision he’s made or that I expect to be happy with his every decision during his second term. That he won in 2008 means that McCain and Palin didn’t win, and for that we should all be profoundly grateful. It still sorely distresses me that millions of my fellow citizens were willing to risk having Sarah Palin as President by voting for McCain. Romney and Mystery Person will probably be a less risky vote in 2012, but if elected, Romney will prove to be totally inept. If fact, he could become the first President to resign because he admits he just isn’t up to the job. It’ll be that bad.

So when exactly did Obama serve in the military? If I remember correctly, Leon Panetta had to beg Obama over several months to take out Osama Bin Laden. If something had gone wrong, Leon Panetta or more likely Admiral McRaven would have taken the blame. Joe Biden and Obama were against it - until it was successful, then they were doing their high fives.

Regarding the take down of Osama bin Laden - why did Obama insist that he be killed and buried at sea? Why wasn't he captured alive and interrogated?

While we're discussing the great one, let's talk about the drone captured in Iran. Rather than blow the damn thing up, Obama asked if they would give it back. The Iranians laughed at him. Obama gives away out technology to the Iranians who are also sharing with the Russians.
I pretty much loathe Republicans and TEA Partiers of all manifestations and incarnations, but the most contemptible have to be the chicken hawks. I believe that Annapolis grad Jimmy Carter did, indeed, make the call when he sent Delta Force soldiers into Iran. That mission ended as a disaster, but he did make the call. The mission to go after OBL could have ended just as ingloriously as Carter’s Iran mission, but it didn’t. What would Mitt do? I shudder to think.

Sarah, Proud and Tall chronicles an attack from James Taranto of the WSJ. According to the Jameses (he uses the imperial "we" a lot), Obama has no class. This echoes a lot of criticisms tossed at Bill Clinton. The conservative elite and the beltway pundit/villagers couldn't stand Clinton, the usurper, because he was from the wrong side of the tracks. Now we have this guy who is not only from the wrong side of the tracks, he's blackity-black-black as well. Funny thing, conservatives, in the end Clinton was still standing because he was smarter than you and better at the game. Not bad for a country boy from Hope. Could even God have been on his side? I predict Obama will still be standing come November. Conservatives, you got nothin' except a gaffe-prone, entitled (It's our turn, says Ann), flip-flopper who couldn't find his core beliefs with both hands because he doesn't have any.

Sarah says:

"If ever there was a person in desperate need of a good high colonic (preferably administered orally), it’s James Taranto, not least for the insufferable habit of referring to himselves in the first person plural. This week the collective Jameses hove into view already clutching at their very best pearls and fanning themselves frantically for the vapors, emitting a stream of non sequiturs, calumnies and links so baffling they hurt to read, all in order to convince us how non-u that horrible man in the White House is."
Let's just simply call the repugs the Hypocrite Party and be done with it. We recognize that whatever they say is automatically gross hypocrisy. Of course, there are many demoncrats the term would apply to, but most of those are DINOs.

The repugs are striving mightily to create a myth of rampant voter fraud. I'd hate to agree, but there is a "voter fraud." The actual voter frauds are the politicians who tell voters that they are dems but sponsor and vote on legislation like they are repugs.

We prosecute people for taking money by fraud. Why can't we prosecute politicians for fraudulently taking a citizen's valuable vote?
