I remember when Jennings Osborne sent trays of food to a particular department when the tornadoes hit Little Rock. This department worked 24 hours a day for several days. He made sure everyone was fed around the clock!Breezy, many people were so grateful for this!! Your parents have always been good to their community and others. I am so sorry your going through this!

Then I thought of Mitt Romney and what he does with HIS money, earned off Bain, and what Bain did to people to "earn" all that money. And Romney's Swiss bank account. And his Cayman Islands investments. And his hinky tax rate compared to those who've never been fullup with meat before.

Children (the next generation of citizens) were the top beneficiary of the Osborne family philanthropy.

Families were able to create memories doing a Red Christmas Light drive by. Families were able to create memories at Osborne Family Fireworks. Families were able to create memories at one of the numerous BBQ picnics. I had many joyful times watching a family line up for a $5 BBQ plate that probably tipped the scales at 15 pounds of ribs, chicken, sausage and sides.

At one in particular by the Old State House on a holiday weekend I settled in to share a monster plate with my "Little" (I was a "Big" with Big Brothers Big Sisters). Next to us was a family group of a woman and 3 kids aged between five and eight. They were really enjoying the BBQ. The kids had giant grins and were huddled up and looking at each other as if they couldn't believe their good fortune. Sitting crosslegged on the lawn the littlest boy in the group said to his mother, "I've never been fullup on meat before!" The mother said "Yes, today is a good day!"

The woman said they should go up there and tell that man thank you. Jennings was in the line ploppin' food on plates and had a big towel around his neck to keep wiping sweat in the summer heat. He waved the kids around and I could see Jennnings introducing the kids to those working the line. There were a bunch of hugs. I suspect the little one repeated the never fullup on meat before comment. Jennings looked over and waved at the woman and she waved back.

The three came back with a big covered aluminum foil tray. The oldest said "That man said they had extra and could we help make sure it didn't go to waste, and he gave us back our $5!"

The smile on the woman's face seemed to say that today was a good day.

Thanks Breezy, please tell your mom we are sorry for your loss. Little Rock gained when y'all came to town and we all lost when Jennings passed.
