Here's my airport security report. I have a mid-morning flight, so the crowds are not quite as bad as they are in the early morning. The line filled the switchbacks but didn't stretch down the concourse toward the escalators. When I got there they were running only one body scanner with two bag x-ray lines feeding it. By the time I got to the checkpoint, they had opened up a couple of old-style scanners and were getting people through more quickly. This is the first time I've ever seen them open up the old-style machines since the upgrade. Even with that the wait was 27 minutes, longer than I wait at any of the other 5-6 airports I fly through regularly.

Bottom line: It wasn't as bad for me this morning as it is sometimes, but still not as good as anywhere else.

And yes, Mountaingirl, I'm reading the blog while waiting for my plane.

One kudo to the LR Airport: The wifi is free. Good for them.

I was sitting here scratching myself, getting ready to go up and read. I was reviewing my pretty fine day and hit on one sore point. My old jr high girlfriend posted something on Facebook today about how she can't wait until we get a good President next January. It just hit me the wrong way and I coulda choked her a little bit.

But then it occurred to me......I've known this woman well since 1967 and while she's not dumb, her world is limited to going to work, going to church, going shopping, getting her hair done, eating.....lots of eating and that about covers it. She'll watch a little TV and be in bed about 9:30 pm.

Now there's nothing wrong with any of that. That could describe most of the population in the US today. But where in all that does one come up with informed opinions on current affairs and politics? I feel pretty sure if I put a gun to my friends sweet head and told her to name me 3 good things Bush-Cheney did in 8 years and 3 bad things Obama has done in 3 and 1/2 years.....she wouldn't be able to name a single thing.

And now she's waiting on a good President to take over next January. The honest to Allah truth is that my friend wouldn't know a good President from a bad one because she pays NO attention to anything other than what I listed above. These are the people that Fox News sucks in. These are the people the preachers suck in. These are the voters who'll hear one carefully crafted sentence from a political commercial as they walk past their TV set and based on that one thing they think they heard.....go vote for whichever turd hound that ran the commercial.

We have way too many uninformed voters who totally lack the ability to tell a good President from a bad one. There's a big problem! Sunshine is a great example if you read the posts above. Stomps right in telling a big story on Q. B. Hurst Sr., and has none of the facts right. Do you think Sunshine has the ability to pick between good and bad candidates? They might be the best damn roofer you've ever seen, but it's pretty obvious this person has lots of attitude but a piss poor command of political facts, an inability to understand government & elections and probably an unwillingness to do any studying. But that TV remote dealy works real well!

What a mess! People paying no attention combined with people who are easily fooled combined with racists and billionaires buying up the world with help from tools too silly to know they're being had........Welcome to America 2012! Canada is so proud they're not us!
For fun, here's the Rep primary:

Where did Romney do worst?
(excluding counties with only a few Rep votes, e.g. Lee, Woodruff, Clay, etc)

Searcy (Marshall) - 57%
Newton (Jasper) - 62%
Sharp (Ash Flat) - 63%
Boone (Harrison) - 64%
Faulkner (Conway) - 64%
Carroll (Eureka Springs) - 64%
Benton (Wal*Mart) - 65%

Where did Ron Paul do best?
Searcy (Marshall) - 21%
Sharp (Ash Flat) - 16%
Faulkner (Conway) - 16%
Carroll (Eureka Springs) - 16%
Madison (Huntsville) - 16%

Santorum?
Newton (Jasper) - 17%
White (Searcy) - 17%
Sharp (Ash Flat) - 16%
Benton (Wal*Mart) - 16%
Lonoke (Cabot) - 15%
Faulkner (Conway) - 15%

Newt was single-digits pretty much everywhere.

Looks like Romney did worst with the north AR conservatives and did best where the majority of voters participated in the Dem primary. Not much of a spread compared to the Dem primary, with most counties anywhere from 62-73% Romney.
For anyone still interested in the Dem primary:

Where Pres Obama did best:
Pulaski (Little Rock)- 86%
Washington (Fayetteville)- 84%
Benton (Wal*Mart)- 84%
Mississippi (Blytheville)- 76%
Jefferson (Pine Bluff)- 76%
Carroll (Eureka Springs)- 75%
Chicot (Lake Village)- 72%
Sebastian (Fort Smith)- 72%

Where Pres. Obama did worst:
Sevier (DeQueen)- 25%
Pike (Murfreesboro)- 28%
Little River (Ashdown)- 30%
Grant (Sheridan) - 31%
Prairie - 32%
Cleveland (Rison) - 32%
Calhoun - 33%
Poinsett - 33%

Nothing too shocking -- it looks like the President did best in counties where the Obama-haters voted in the Republican primary or have large African-American populations. He did worst in rural, white, conservative registered Democratic counties. But race isn't a factor.
My nephew works for HP back in Virginia. I think his area is support. That is the one division of the corp. that seems to be doing well although he is a little worried. He says HP has fallen behind because they weren't spending enough on R&D or not the right kind of R&D. Carly Fiorina who presided over much of the slide (which, to be fair, started just before her tenure) left the company in 2009 with a 21 million dollar golden parachute so she's not worried about making the rent or child care payments. California dodged a bullet by not electing her Senator.

Our Little Miss Sunshine says Obama doesn't understand economics. I assume she is a RMoneybot. Bain Capiital, which he touts, is not a job creator---it's a wealth creator for its partners and stockholders. Why doesn't he tout his stint as governor of MA? Oh, I forgot. MA was 47th in job creation under his leadership. Then there's RomneyCare which the citizens of MA seem to like and which served as a template for the ACA. He can't run on that because his lunatic base would rather hold bake sales and put a begging jar on the counter at the local convenience store to pay hospital bills for friends and neighbors.

RMoney has never put any flesh on the bones of his economic plan which is about as sensible as the underpants gnome plan on South Park. The gnome plan for you who never watched South Park was:

Phase One: Collect Underpants
Phase Two: ?
Phase Three: Profits!

I have heard RMoney answer a voter when asked what he would do to create jobs "The opposite of what President Obama is doing." I think the gnome's plan sounds better than that.

I'm not going to detail what President Obama has achieved for Sunny. Is she a runaway from the school for the deaf? Because everything seems to fall on deaf ears with her.
MoDo's relentless pursuit of the hypocritical bishops and priests in the child-raping Brotherhood who want to protect women from contraceptives continues today:

"The bishops and the Vatican care passionately about putting women in chastity belts. Yet they let unchaste priests run wild for decades, unconcerned about the generations of children who were violated and raped and passed around like communion wine.

They still have not done a proper reckoning, and the acrid scandal never ends. In the midst of a landmark trial in Philadelphia charging Msgr. William Lynn with covering up sexual abuse by priests and then recirculating the perverts, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced Sunday that two priests in their 70s who worked in parishes and hospitals had abused minors at some point and were unfit for ministry.

This follows five priests sidelined earlier this month because of substantiated claims of sexual abuse or other violations, plus 17 others suspended after last year’s sickening grand jury report on rampant sexual abuse in the Philadelphia Archdiocese."
As I was reading the posts about Lance Hines' insensitive and incendiary comments and the defense that someone named Shane offered, I was struck by how little progress we have made as a society to help the poor, and how that condition has now is greeted not just by indifference, but rather by downright hostility and anger that the poor exist. It brought to my mind a beleagured, over-worked social worker of 25 or so years ago who labored in the Southern part of Arkansas to help poor people. Max will probably remember her. I think her name was Joanne Thornton, and she described her heartbreaking efforts in numerous letters to the Editor. She painted an unrelenting picture of despair in trying to make people care about our poor citizens whom she tried to help. Mostly, her efforts, as detailed in the letters, failed. The situation has only got worse, and the Republicans now simply want to stop all assistance to these unfortunates, hoping that they will simply die and go away. In other words, as dire as things were in Ms. Thornton's letters to the editor, they have only gotten worse. Max, do you remember what I am talking about?

      >>Q. Byrum Hurst's father was the bag man for that poor governor that only made 10M a year for 12 years and then built that mansion in Charleston.)<<

'Orville' Faubus never saw 10M in his life! Jeesh can you wingnuts fuk up a myth!

Your boss-daddy with the private golf course, his ancestors were responsible for much of Faubus' booty. Ever see an Ark campus without gas lights that burned 24/7 throughout much of the 50s and 60s? There were many programs the State of Ark did that benefited ARKLA via 'Orville'.

Q.Byrum Hurst, Sr, who I briefly knew personally, spent several years of his life hiding from a mean Indian who claimed Q.Byrum didn't represent him very well so the mean Indian was sent to prison and vowed revenge on Hurst. Q. Byrum was the son of a Church of God minister and became a lawyer, a state senator who attempted once in the 70s to pass legislation legalizing casino gambling in Garland County.
He was prosecuted for income tax evasion by Bobby Kennedy's squad in the Justice Dept and found NOT-GUILTY in the mid 60s. From a few witnesses I knew the trial became a farce.

That's a whole different story, long and goes way back to the days when pop Kennedy was running booze to the five mile limit and the mob allegedly didn't like the way Joe was doin bidness so they fixed it. It was a long grudge and Q. Byrum had nothing to do with it but that didn't matter to the RFK's justice dept. Hurst was from Hot Springs and knew the guy said to be responsible for old Joe's loss. RFK lost that one.

Think that Obama knows anything about the economy? Please review his Q and A session at the G8. He was asked by a foriegn reporter if he could convince the market that he had contingency plans in case Greece left the EU, namely that it wouldn't be another Lehman moment in which world markets convulsed.
He spent SIX minutes blathering on and didn't in that entire time answer the question!
He should have spent 20 seconds saying "Yes we do have plans in place, but we firmly believe that Greece should honor it's commintments and stay in the EU."
But he couldn't even manage that little bit off teleprompter.

I know this group would never vote R, but you have to know the D is in over his head.
