Hold on a second there cowboy. Business as usual? Does that mean someone else receives the kickbacks? We owe Martha Shoffner our gratitude for 1) demonstrating "You can't fix stupid," and, breaking into the here-to-fore all boys Dem Felons Club (AG Clark and Guv Jim Guy). I beg of her not to resign if nothing else for the entertainment value of her remaining. My fondest hope is she were eligible to run for re-election. Can you say Republican majority party in office in January 2015.

The clergy, political office, etc is a choice to have a job where the mission is service above self. I never sought office for financial gain nor would I do so.
Finally, I believe Martha Shoffner is a good person who just got caught up in something horrible. It's sad, it's tragic, but she needs to resign and take care of herself.

      Some thoughts:

A 2011 analysis by the Center for Public Integrity found that Texas and Oklahoma "combined for more than a quarter of FEMA's declared disasters since Jan. 1, 2009." http://ualrpublicradio.org/post/oklahomas-gop-senators-find-themselves-tornado-aid-bind

Why are these states so rabidly anti-FEMA when they are the largest recipient of OUR largess? They should be pulling themselves back up with their bootstraps. Hypocrites - they should decline all aid and then explain to their constituency why they did so.

What do you do with a dog that bites the hand that feeds him?

"Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me" is what these (R)ed state hearts full of hate should be keeping in mind. One thinks they're going to have a Hell of a time getting through that needle on their camel.

But anti-abortion laws have NOTHING to do with medical science and everything to do with imposing fundamentalist religious dogma on societies.

That is to say, establishing a theocracy.

In the immortal words of Richard Dawkins ("Dick" to friends, "DD" to intimates): "Religion is an evil precisely because it requires no justification and brooks no discussion."

Religion is the elephant in this particular living room (also the LGBT equality living room). The sooner everybody admits that and addresses it directly, the sooner it becomes apparent that these emperors have no clothes.

Keep religion in places of worship and out of the lives of those (increasing in numbers daily) who don't want it.

SP - one flaw in your statement:
"If Congress is unhappy with the amount of taxes being paid by Apple and every other company making foreign profits, they have only themselves to blame. After all, they and legislative bodies in every other country make the laws that Apple and everyone else has to comply with."

Those Supreme Court-designated "people" (corporations) buy those loopholes in the tax laws; however, actual flesh-and-blood citizens don't have that buying power, and therefore we pay an amount far greater than 0.5%. I guess we ARE foolish to have paid for the infrastructure and institutions that have made their profits possible.
