You and I often think alike, outlier. But not everybody see things the way we do. There’s this from the all-knowing Wikipedia. And CNN. And similar accounts from so many other sources.

“On February 21, 2012, four members of the group staged a performance on the soleas of Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, motivated by their opposition to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the politics of the Russian Orthodox Church.[1][2] Their actions were stopped by church security officials.”

From CNN:

“[Judge Marina] Sirovaya rejected the women's defense that they were acting from political motives, ruling that they had intended to insult the Russian Orthodox Church and undermine public order.”
“Durango, I, for one, can say Pussy Riot out loud without having to suppress a smile.”

Me, too, outlier. But have y’noticed that many of the network news anchors have avoided saying Pussy Riot? I’m betting they’re afraid they’d laugh out loud. Or maybe the boss said, “Don’t do it.” Who knows?

Anyway, before I begin the day’s work, here’s a bit more Pussy Riot from today’s ArkD-G editorial:

“Not since Hizzoner Richard J. Daley, aka Daley I, loosed Chicago’s Finest on the Yippies in the Silly Sixties has a political boss looked quite so ridiculous. What had Pussy Riot done? The girls staged a demonstration against Russia’s tame Russian Orthodox church at a Moscow cathedral. A similar offense in this country might have earned them a citation for disturbing the peace. In Russia, each has just been sentenced to two years in prison. The charge? “Hooliganism,” an elastic term about as specific as Un-American Activities used to be here. That’s quite a compliment from Vlad the Uneasy. And testimony to how insecure he must be behind his tough-guy bluster.”
While Yoder, congressman from our other neighbor, Kansas, does not deserve equal time with Akin, he at least deserves an dishonorable mention. It's looking more and more like he is the one who kicked off his skivvies for a dip in the sea where Jesus walked on water. TBogg has it.
Pussy Riot:

So much for the chatter here about the ArkD-G being averse to printing the name of the punk rock band bold enough to raise hell with Vladimir Putin.

From the paper’s lead editorial today, “Sunshine in Bavaria”:

“To go from the sublime to the ridiculous, from Solzhenitsyn to Pussy Riot, let it be noted that Russia’s new tsar, a former KGB man who still retains all his old habits, has launched his latest culture war on a punk rock band called Pussy Riot, an appellation that cannot be said out loud without having to suppress a smile. This is the latest threat to the all-powerful Russian state? Vladimir Putin has got to be mighty uneasy to confuse these three rockers with a rival power center. It’s as if our Janet Napolitano had decided the Dixie Chicks were some kind of clear and present danger.”
I am grateful to Charles Pierce for risking brain-cell-loss by watching the Sunday morning gas bags and reporting on it every Monday so I don't have to.

http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/joe-…

He eviscerates the pearl clutchers on the right who are all atwitter because Joe Biden said "y'all" in front of a mostly black audience. It's racist, ya know! This from a crowd that kicked off a presidential campaign at Philadelphia, Mississippi (Are the names Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner engraved on your heart? They should be.), talked about welfare queens and young bucks buying t-bone steaks with food stamps, and still makes dog whistling sounds to the knuckle-draggers about welfare, etc. etc. I made my own informal survey of black bloggers on the innertubz and guess what! They think for themselves! They don't need a bunch of right wing nut jobs or both-sides-do-it pundits telling them how they should feel. They understand exactly what Uncle Joe was saying and aren't offended at all. You people need to get over the fact that blacks are educated, sensate human beings---one of them is even living in the White House.

Which brings us to Neighbor Akin. Pierce flays him for his comments about legitimate rapes and the "female body" having some sort of ju-ju juice in its vagina that prevents pregnancy by rape. Just as important as Akin's ignorance about OB-GYN concerns is his position on the Voting Rights Act---he's agin it. This may even be a more important reason than his ideas about rape to hope that Missourians are gripped by sanity in November and send him packing.

If you just have to watch current events every Sunday AM, I recommend Up With Chris Hayes. He and his guests are smart, sober (unlike The Mad Woman of Merlot, Peggy Noonan, whom I contend has been in her cups since Reagan left office), and you will actually learn things.

Go read the whole Pierce column.

h/t to Pierce for The Mad Woman of Merlot moniker. I wish I had thought of it.
“My administration will continue to do everything we can to put Americans back to work,” said President Barack Obama. “We’re not going to let politics stand between construction workers and good jobs repairing our roads and bridges.”

“We are freeing up these funds so states can get down to the business of moving transportation projects forward and putting our friends and neighbors back to work,” said Secretary LaHood.
They could be ghastly. Are they going to force women through that again?
I would love to know if it is true that the Koch's promised Romney $100M worth of PAC advertising to choose Ryan. That would be outside the law, and the law as it stands is bad enough.

Let's ignore the fact that the "female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down" part of Akin's statement is absolutely and completely untrue and demonstrates a level of ignorance that is breathtaking.

Let's focus on the first part. WTF is "legitimate rape"? What is "illegitimate rape"? Is "illegitimate rape" what occurs when a woman wears the "wrong" kind of clothes? Or is in the wrong neighborhood at the wrong time of night? Or she didn't put up enough of a struggle? Or that it was her husband or boyfriend that forced her to have sex?

Is getting pregnant after being raped proof that it was an "illegitimate rape"? Proof that she really wanted to be "raped"?

And all the Romney campaign had to say was that "a Romney-Ryan administration would not oppose abortion in instances of rape."

Which is a lie. Both have said (and Ryan sponsored a bill) that they would support a federal "personhood" amendment which would make all abortions illegal. Abortion would be crime even in cases of "legitimate rape", incest or saving the life of the mother.

      Silverback???

Ozarks = Switzerland?

What are you gonna do with the mouthbreathers populating the place now? Some forced Trail of Beers march off into OK?

Friday night at midnight an old pickup pulls into the yard and it's my neighbor known locally as "Crazy Fatman".

He reports he just shot other neighbor Eddie's pitbull for attacking Crazy's BlueTic hound in Crazy's front yard. I hadn't heard because I was fast asleep.

Eddie letting his hog dogs run all over the county. They are taking out everyone's dogs. Chained dogs are really at a disadvantage when the pack hits.

For those not in Switzerland/Ozarks, feral hogs are running amuck and shredding crops and raiding all the turkey and bobwhite nests and the bird population is plummetting. It is actual "open season" on hogs. No restrictions on. They are in season all year. Anytime day or night. No limit. Any method. No wasting restrictions, that means leave em where you drop em. Go on after the next one.

So Eddie thinks he is doing community service by traipsing all over, cutting fences, flinging gates wide open during pursuit and letting cattle out.

So Crazy Fatman is there, at midnight, to advise me not to go out without at least a pistol and keep my dog in.

I didn't hear a shot but I was asleep and Crazy is 3/4 mile back toward the road from my place.

Is Crazy off his meds again? Does Eddie even have tracking dogs anymore?

Note to self, lock the gate behind me next time I come up.

For the rest of the weekend I just keep to myself. I don't hike out of sight of the cabin. Rest of my excursions are on my 4 wheeler.

Then we head back toward Little Rock today and tooling down hwy 65, near the Dennard area we see the latest rebel flag. This one is giant. It is being used as a curtain in sliding glass door facing proudly toward all traveling the main north/south hwy right up the center of the state.

This big ol reb flag has the same surroundings that they all have. Beatup old 70's or 80's pickup in the yard of a old house that had been vacant for a while. Around the side there are a couple lawnchairs round a ring of stones firepit where the inhabitants are deffiantly burning scrap wood during burn bans. "We got a right by god to burn our trash!"

The sad sight is a little kids tricycle and doll by the lawn chairs. If rebel flag hate ain't in the DNA it is passed down just as effectively father to child.

Silverback
Switzerland was only allowed to be "Neutral" so the ruling class could stash their plundered loot. Do you think the knuckle draggers populating the Krazo-ozarKs can run discreet banks for the like of Romney?

Glad to see everybody paying attention to Republican Rep. Todd Akin's remarks about "legitimate rape" and the supposed "rarity" of pregnancies resulting from rape.

How many, many, many ongoing examples of the utter stupidity and destructive ugliness of religious dogmas overwhelming facts and reason does this country need?

It is appalling to watch religious believers "defend" their nasty and ignorant "faith" dogmas again and again.

These are the Christo-fascists who have completely taken over the Republican Party and who are determined to steal the next election because they cannot win legitimately.

These stealth candidates are determined to legislate their hideous stupidity and hate on all Americans. They continue to blatantly lie and cheat to attain that goal.

They have succeeded in making abortions unavailable in 80% of American counties and in many states: a de facto overturning of the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe v. Wade. NOT based on medical science or women's health, but SOLELY on their indefensible religious dogma.

They want to re-criminalize being gay.

They want to equate "creationism" and "intelligent design" with evolution and mandate religious indoctrination in schools and legislatures.

From Richard Dawkins, again: "If you were born in Arkansas and you think Christianity is true and Islam false, knowing full well that you would think the opposite if you had been born in Afghanistan, you are the victim of childhood indoctrination."

On and on.

On and on we watch the litmus test of religious "faith" in American politics: especially the hideous dogmas of the Mormon and Catholic religions, now exemplified by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Automatons, they revere their religious dogma above the United States Constitution -- and LIE about that even while funneling $8 million into California's unconstitutional Prop. 8 to defeat same-sex equality.

Their religious dogma is used to defend their "dominionist" rape of the earth and its ecology; their annihilation of all who question their "God-given" authority; their assault on reason, education and science--even global communications.

Pussy Riot, Razorbabies? Julian Assange? Wikileaks?

There is nothing "innocent" or even "good" about any of this, including defenders of religion on this blog and elsewhere.

When examined even superficially, they all turn out to be more Todd Akins and Maggie Gallaghers. Pathetic examples among the worst and sickest in human beings.

Robert Pirsig: "When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion."

The giveaway, the exposure of Religion's true fascist underbelly, is this:

It's not enough for them to contain their dogmas, their "faith," among themselves, their families and fellow believers in the privacy of their own homes and lives.

They must enforce their religious dogmas on everybody -- EVERYBODY -- with lies, bullying, terrorism and death.

They must overtake and rule nations.

When you look in their hearts, beyond their supposed "good works," behind their wholly illogical and irrational "faith," beneath their hypocritical smiles, THAT'S the heart of darkness beating in them all.

Religious Dogma=Stupidity=Irrationality=Ugliness=Death.

Facts=Intelligence=Rationality=Beauty=Life.

Each is a mortal threat to the other.

One cannot worship or follow both.
