How about some thalidomide for the American people? It never got past the US Food and Drug Administration back in the early 1960's saving untold heartache to the thousands of parents of babies who would have otherwise been born limbless. I guess we don't need no stinkin' FDA.

No EPA? Let the Cuyahoga River burn again. Learn how to treat and filter your own water.

No safe food laws? Who cares? It's mostly old folks and babies who die of Salmonella and E.Coli outbreaks anyway. They are "moochers and leeches", not "jobs creators".

Worker safety? Coal miners are just a bunch of ignorant mountain folks. Who cares about them.

VA benefits? Give those legless veterans a log and a knife and let them carve their own damned legs. If they want to stand on their own two feet, let 'em make 'em themselves. That's what Rand and her acolytes, chief among them Ryan, would do. We are a nation of rugged individualists who built every thing by ourselves. Man up, GI's, stop whining.

I could go on, but surely you have the picture of the dystopian world that awaits us if these two pathological liars win the White House.

"The Ryan budget does, in fact, “duck the tough issues.” Ryan claims to be proposing major steps toward a balanced budget and long-term debt reduction, but he doesn’t really tell voters how he is going to get there.”

In a NYT editorial, "The Ryan Sinkhole," Thomas Edsall reveals the cynical shell game con in the Repug budget.

"What people have not been talking about enough is that the Ryan budget contains an $897 billion sinkhole: massive but unexplained cuts in such discretionary domestic programs as education, food and drug inspection, workplace safety, environmental protection and law enforcement."

"While the Ryan budget does specify cuts in programs serving the poor, many of whom are Democratic constituents (Medicaid, food stamps, unemployment benefits), it hides under the abstruse veil of “Function 920 allowances” the cuts in programs popular with many other voters."

The frustrating part of all this is that the Democrats are too cowardly or too inept to communicate this scam to the public.

It's . . . amazing. Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and an ensemble cast unlike anything ever assembled before (I'm not in this one) pull out all the stops playing multiple characters in stories about karma and reincarnation that span the 1800s to 2300.

(Actually, seeing that near-final cut gave me the inspiration and confidence to pull off my greatest perf to date at Tampa's Executive Airport Thursday a week ago at the crack of dawn. Only four policemen and one possible policewoman were my audience, so you'll have to trust me. And yet, in its way, it constituted a standing O for me that I shall always treasure, though still temporarily bald for my art. Small price to pay for saving America.)

My favorite line from "Cloud Atlas?" (Hope it made the final cut.) "Official cause of accident: pussy."

It's a feast for the soul and the eyeballs. Another cinematic milestone from the Wachowskis, who've promised me something in the next one.

The DOJ considers suspicious terrorist activity to be purchases at home improvement, hobby or large retail stores, including buying batteries, candles, sponges, and model airplane fuel. Among the long laundry list of other suspicious activities are the individual acts of renting watercraft, paying in cash, or photographing outside.

Under the Patriot Act and similar laws, we have more to fear from the hyper-vigilant Dept. of Homeland Security than from actual terrorists.

Read the first 10 or 20 comments too---or all of them if you have the time. Sherri Chessen (her married name) chimes in on some of the comments. She had four children when she flew to Sweden to get an abortion. She had two more after her abortion. If you read the stories in the comments, you realize that she might not have had those 2 additional children if she had been forced to have a back alley abortion. So many of them resulted in permanent infertility, if not death.
