Will also add my repeated endorsement of everything at Taco Mama. And to say Flying Fish's gumbo is my very favorite in town -- really dark roux, goodly number of shrimp added late so they don't overcook, low okra factor. Strong contender for best gumbo in town is Redbone's. Chef there long ago ran Hungry's Cafe where Weekend Theater now is, then later cooked for offshore dudes on a boat off Louisiana coast. His duck and sausage gumbo is outstanding, as is everything I've had at Redbone's -- except the andouille cheese dip and the debris po-boy.

The fresh slaw and pico de gallo really make these good, and the crispy shell is a nice contrast with the fish. There is, honestly, one other fish taco out there I might like better than these (with a soft shell), but I'm saving that one for another time.

My only complaint about this dish is that the beans that come with the tacos are pretty pedestrian -- but I'm usually so full after three of these bad boys that the beans are just an afterthought anyway.

nice review, I've always had my eye on these things but I was always skeptical of the crispy shells...gave me flashbacks to my Taco Bell years. But with your approval, I will take a chance.

Taco Mama is on the list of places I'm going to get to; I'm just not in Hot Springs as often as I used to be. But enough of the Eat Arkansas regulars have mentioned it that I'm going there the next time I can get down to the Spa. I usually try the fish taco whenever I find a place that has one, so I'll be sure to try it.

Good but best fish taco's in state likely goes to Taco Mama's in Hot Springs. It uses tilapia and you can get it grilled.
Agree on all said about Flying Fish and one of the best seafood values around. Amazing customer loyalty.
