Nothing wrong with loving Jesus. Believe it or not, some of us "elitist liberals" still do. PLENTY wrong with this "anti-government" hypocrite blatantly violating the Constitution as he spews *his* version of morality to poor kids -- to the tune of a yearly $900k of our tax dime. So, on that note . . .
God bless you, Matt Campbell, and your letter to D.C. that got the ball rolling. I'm sure Harris will always keep you in his prayers.

I have to say this... I went to a preschool and public schools and NO ONE ever taught me there is no God, or even implied there is no God. And yet I still decided, on my own, against all the accumulated and indoctrinated "wisdom" to the contrary, that there is no God. So what the hell are these idiots talking about when they say things like, “Teaching there is no God is not religiously neutral." I'm sorry... Who the hell are they worried about teaching that??? NO One in Arkansas is gonna TEACH kids there is no God unless its the parent to their child cause no one is that stupid. We know where we live. No business is gonna profess their love of Atheism for that matter. Seriously, if you're a teacher at one of these places and a kid asks if you believe there is a God, or if you believe in God, tell them "I'm not who you should be discussing that with. You should really ask your parents."

Let's see these guys are legislators elected by citizens of Arkansas. I would expect the folks who elected these guys want their elected officials to follow the law. Wow!! what an example of upstanding citizens these elected legislators make. Crying crocodile tears so they can get more government funding. Heck, I thought they were against this sort of thing. Guess they must be part of the 47% Mitt is talking about.

What the Hell is wrong with Tim Summers, who I know personally and who has been a friend for 30-some years? He has already been defeated by the Koch machine and Teresa Oelke, so can't be follow his conscience for once? He knows that it is wrong to use public money to teach religion. He is not a wingnut fundamentalist, being a member of the Bentonville Methodist Church, so why is he hesitant to enforce the law. If I see him, I will ask him.

It took me a long time to comfortably say out loud that I am not a Christian. It took me a long time to realize that gay marriage instead of civil unions is the proper way to go. That happened because of the asinine arguments put forth by those demanding that marriage can only be between a man and a woman. Now I am being driven from agnosticism into the bowels of atheism by the whole lot of the religionists.

It is the parents fault if children aren't getting sufficient religious upbringing but that is the responsibility of the parents, not the State!

Doesn't anyone believe in personal responsibility anymore?

Everybody always has their hand out for the state tax money because they want the state to pay for something they should be supplying on their own.

If the parents are so low down and lazy that they aren't churching the babes enough those kids need to pull themselves up by their diaper straps and take care of it by themselves!

Wah wah wah, get over it you big baby!

We don't want the babes to be getting the wrong message that is ok to lay around and force others to pay for your parent's shortcomings.

It is claimed by the Right that any and all funds supplied to Planned Parenthood subsidizes abortion.

How is it faith based organizations are able to accept tax money funds and keep it absolutely segragated with no comingling? (magic?)

Planned Parenthood is some how unable to take the tax money and provide mamograms, prenatal care, pap smears and all other kinds of women's health services but if $1 goes to pay for mamogram it is actually a dollar that PP is furhtering abortion?

Make up your mind, either no tax dollars to churches or PP, or recognize that some gov't services can be subcontracted through faith based orgs or PP.

And a final word to Mr Politician Justin Harris, if you wish to take the money you must follow the rules. If you don't like the rules go get money elsewhere.

What is there to debate? The First Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ...." and Article VI specifies that "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

The wall of separation has been cited repeatedly by the U.S. Supreme Court. In Reynolds v. United States (1879) the Court wrote that Jefferson's comments "may be accepted almost as an authoritative declaration of the scope and effect of the [First] Amendment." In Everson v. Board of Education (1947), Justice Hugo Black wrote: "In the words of Thomas Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state." This citation is no dought why the religious wingnuts in Texas and elsewherwe want Jefferson written out of the History Books.

In short everyone is free to practice any religion of choice just keep it out of government or in this case a government funded institution that serves not only those who practice a religion but those who do not and those who prefer alternatives to the evangelical wingnuts trying to push this through.

Poor Justin Harris. He has played this persecution/religious freedom theme to the hilt, to the tune of over $2 million in the past six years. Contributed by ALL taxpayers in Arkansas, who have had no choice in the matter. Just who is being persecuted here? If I had a choice, I can assure you that not a single cent of my money would go to his school.
