Actuyally @Laura Woodhead Jesus did not condemn slavery, not once, nowhere in the new testament is slavery condemned. Jesus believed that all men were created equal but some - the jews - were created more equal than others. Of course this would only be important if Jesus existed which is highly unlikely given no one outside the bible even mentions him.

Those individuals who defend slavery are ones who were not directly effected by the negative results of it. They were most often descendants of the perpetrators. If they were in our shoes their conversation would not be as it is. It has been 147 years since the end of slavery and people of African descent are still feeling ramifications of that horrid era. It's easy for the perpetrators and their descendants to stand back and act like they've done nothing wrong. They weren't forcibly separated from their families and brought to some foreign place, forced to work for someone else, have their mothers raped by countless numbers of men, falsely accused to doing wrong, unfed, underfed, beaten for trying to escape the travesty of slavery or had their culture beaten out of them. All they did was commit the act upon us and tried with the Native American with no successful results, tried with the Asian American with no successful results. No, we're not grateful for any mistreatment of our ancestors and we will not ever accept anything that tries to make us believe that it was justifiable, permissible or condoned in anyway. Tell these two individuals and anyone else who thinks like them, it's easy to say anything when you're not the victim. Take a walk in my shoes and see how it feels.

ACTUALLY Jesus said many things condemning slavery, along with sexism and racism when he declared that all people were created as equals. It's frustrating that Christianity is getting such a bad rep because of US politicians who don't know anything about the religion open their damn mouths and spout pure bullshit.

The GOP asshats don't in any way represent any more than 1% of the GOP. The GOP is usually too quick to throw their idiots under the bus, whereas the DemOcRATS NEVER throw their actual alleged or convicted criminals under the bus. I'm thinking of William Jefferson. Ted Kennedy, Charlie Rangel, Marion Barry, among others. At least Democrats are more loyal to their kin when they make a mistake. That is to be admired.

The Arkansas Republican party has proven it will accept someone who has engaged in highly questionable ethical and moral conduct and elevate them to a leadership role by selecting Doyle Webb as Chairman. Greed was the driving force which caused Webb to engage is such behavior when he took advantage of an elderly, vulnerable widow woman by taking over $100,000 of HER money and using it for HIS benefit.

The Arkansas Republican Party and the National Republican Party has proven it will accept someone who has engaged in potentially illegal behavior if that behavior was designed to help another Republican be elected President. Tim Griffin engaged in illegal, federally criminal voter caging in 2004 in Florida in order to help George W. Bush get re-elected President. Some of those voters Tim Griffin caged in 2004 were active duty military members fighting overseas on hostile foreign soil!

So, what does it matter if State Reps. Loy Mauch and Jon Hubbard and want-to-be a State Rep. Charles Fugua have said some questionable things and may have some odd beliefs so long as they will "vote the Republican Party Line"?

Well, here's how it will matter. If the Republicans gain a majority in the Arkansas House and Senate, we'll see the passage of more anti-tort legislation which will restrict our right to sue wrong doers and then force those wrong doers to pay for what they did wrong!

We'll see our water, air and soil spoiled by pollution.

We'll have laws passed saying we can be pulled over at any time and be asked to provide proof we are valid US citizens, and which will allow law enforcement to take us to jail if we cannot provide adequate proof.

We'll see laws passed which will require governmental approval of certain health care decisions involving women, and will make some of those decisions to be criminal conduct which involves a prison sentence for the woman.

We'll see laws passed which will allow public money to be used to support private schooling with many of those very schools being associated with certain religious beliefs.

We'll see laws passed which require us to present a specific form of governmental identification in order to be allowed to vote without regard as to how much it may cost us in time and money to obtain that ID, or how long we've actually been a registered voter.

We'll see laws passed which protect corporations, allowing them to pay workers what the corporation decides is a just and adequate wage, and for the Corporation to provide an unsafe workplace for the employees. If one of those employees has the misfortune to get injured or killed on the job, well-that's just too bad, but the Corporation will not be held liable or accountable for that, because that would cut in on the Corporation's profit.

Remember Doyle Webb? Yeah-Greed is good!

Remember Tim Griffin? Yeah-it is ok to do whatever needs to be done to make sure that the Republican Candidate gets elected, so long as that person can be trusted to vote the "Party Line." If someone is elected as a Republican and stops voting the party line, then the Republican Party will drive them out of office, because they are no longer useful simply because they can no longer be trusted to vote the "Republican Party Line."

So yes, the Republican Party has a "big tent" and you are welcome to be under that tent so long as you agree with the "Party Line," even though that line keeps moving farther to the right as people like Jon Hubbard, Loy Mauch and Charles Fuqua are accepted and then become mainstream members!

Reason enough to simply stay out of that "Big Tent."

Mercantilism was the model that Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, and other European countries used during the Age of Exploration. Now about the blowback for our backasswards political figures? Here's the first wave:
Thug party chair Doyle "Stole-from-a-widow" Webb and the Thug caucus didn't say they disagreed one bit with the repugnant, racist views of their party cohorts. That's because they don't. It's more important to them to win a majority of House or Senate seats than stand for principle on anything.
If there is a Thug running for office in Arkansas who is NOT a racist, please stand up!
