I know this doesn't fit the Willard/Paul Thug meme, but here we go anyway:

Review: 'The New New Deal' by Michael Grunwald plumbs policy behind Obama's 209 Recovery Act stimulus plan

Here's a snip: " ... the stimulus achieved almost all of its goals, becoming "the biggest and most transformative energy bill in U.S. history. . . . Also the biggest and most transformative education reform bill since the Great Society."

And another: "Thanks to the stimulus, solar and other renewable energy sources are the fastest growing industry in the United States. The forecast in 2009 was that it would take two decades for wind power to grow from 25 to 40 gigawatts; it took two years. Solar is growing even more quickly, and the costs to consumers of those technologies are dropping rapidly. By the end of 2010, the wind and solar power industries employed more than 200,000 Americans — more than the coal industry."
The mutterings of these idiots have been circulated by news services such as AP and Reuters, major networks, newspapers like the Chicago Sun-Times and Washington Post, as well as throughout the intertubes.

Educated people read these accounts and form images of a state where ignorance and hate are considered desired virtues. Outliving the days of the fictional Lum and Abner was difficult, but actual (what barely passes as) human beings spouting this garbage is enough to cause rational America to quarantine this state, avoiding it like a plague.

As several AT commenters have already suggested, any hope of attracting educated researchers or high-tech industries to this state has been effectively dashed. Little Rock's plans for a tech campus should be mothballed and the money invested in the only industries that will be developed here in the near future: dunking chairs, buggy whips, wooden stocks, and implements for determining if someone is a witch.

In the areas of education, labor, science, religion, and government, we are re-entering a medieval age of ignorance, prejudice, and wretched servitude. The apocalyptic paintings of Hieronymus Bosch would be considered a positive portrayal of Arkansas life once these Repugnuts take over.

70 dude, didn't read them all. Just the fact there are that many comments, factor in the views w/o comments make it a negative thing for our state. I can hardly recall any issue or incident that pulled this kind of negative national attention for our state in a while.

Well, except for the drama being played out up in the northwestern part of our state in regards to commercial sports at the state level.
