The Republicans must change the voting rules since by 2050, white voters (90% theirs) will be a minority and they have already pissed off the Latino vote with their primary system on who could sound the nuttiest and the Asians just watch the fun. First states to change-probably solidly red Texas (Yah!) and Colorado, and New Mexico. Florida might be late because they have the oldest average populatioon of white voters but they have that Cuban vote who can't sem to remember who worked to free their country.

The key-every year the white population decreases by 3.5 million and the non-white population increases by 3.5 million. You can try to slow the latter but the former is death and no one, even a Huckabuck, has found a way to stop that.

Kay, who is very active in Ohio politics, posted this today.

"We have the biggest voter protection effort I’ve ever seen in Ohio, and I’ve been doing this since 2006. The county leads are all entered at BOE’s for the 10 days after the election, too, which we’ve never done before. If it goes well, we can use this as a template for other states.
I’d like to put it in place in states Democrats don’t carry, non-swing states, because the central issue is letting people vote, not who wins. I wish we were doing this in Tennessee and South Carolina, for example, this time out."

      >>How the hell, pray tell, does one "attest" to one's state-issued driver's license or photo identification card?<

Dee a point of clarity: Ohio election officials at each poll were previously required to write on a provisional ballot the type of voter ID the voter was using. The Republican Sec of State tried to switch that rule at the last minute and require the voter to write on the ballot the type of ID furnished. Voters have never been required to do this before and most who may find themselves using a provisional ballot for the first time will not be aware of the requirement to note the type of voter ID on their provisional ballot.

Hence, more ballots could be disqualified under the Republican Sec of State proposed rule which is now being challenged in court.
Early Wednesday morning I will be on a plane, headed to Miami for what is planned to be a 5 day birthday trip on South Beach for my niece and her friend.

However, yesterday when I saw the long lines of people waiting 6-7 hours to vote, only to be turned away by order of the Republican Governor, it occurred to me I may find myself spending more time at the courthouse observing the process than I will shopping and sitting on the beach with my kindle.

My husband finds it amusing that we are venturing into the state of dangling hanging chads and voter suppression, a place that may play a pivotal role once again in the outcome of the election, on a trip that was originally designed as a break from the election.

Rupert Murdoch's failing ipad newspaper made its first ever presidential endorsement for, you guessed it, Bipartisan Mitt. Mitt's ability to work across the aisle was cited as a reason to support him. This is a guy who vetoed 800 bills as governor of MA and had 707 of them over-ridden by the legislature. This is a guy whose approval rating was less than 30% when he left office. This is a guy who will lose MA tomorrow by 25-30%.
