Perplexed, why should the President waste his time in Arkansas when he knew there was no way to win. He had to devote his energies to the states where the demographics were in his favor. In my opinion, no campaign organization in history has been as successful as Obama's in determining where they could win, and where they should put their efforts.

As far as all those Red states you referenced, I think we might start referencing those areas as "the Great American Wasteland."

Why do you need a black person in congress? The color of the skin has no bearing on performance. African American is descriptor for people born in Africa, not all the black people whom are born here in the US. I could care less what political party you are in, it's your record that either attracts or detracts me.

Democrats are right to be angry at Obama for abandoning the South and at Southern Democrats for abandoning Obama. His turnout model worked in North Carolina, which he almost won, a state that isn't that dissimilar to Arkansas. Turnout every black and hispanic voter, every union voter, every atheist voter and target them all incessantly. He wouldn't have won Arkansas, but he clearly could have saved the State House and Senate, which are now poised to help destroy the Affordable Care Act at the state level.

I couldn't be happier that he and Arkansas Democrats made such an awful mistake.

Thanks also for running that raging alcoholic Herb Rule. We Republicans knew Tim Griffin was not popular. Thankfully your party couldn't see that.

      1) If the Democratic Party doesn't come up with some viable candidates, the Republican Party will easily retain the majorities they have found. I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I am that they couldn't field a viable candidate against Tim Griffin. People still want a candidate that can connect with them in some kind of rational way. For an example, see the Indiana and Missouri Senate races. Without a bumbling Republican candidate, the Democrats would not have won either of those seats. The same will go for Democrats going forward. They have to start yesterday cultivating viable attractive candidates. e. g. Bill Halter Go find some more like him.

2) If we had this debacle in 2010 and 2012 by Democrats avoiding Obama and him never showing up in our state to campaign, how could it have been any worse if they had claimed him and his agenda? Maybe they could have energized a few folks by actively promoting the truth. The implication was throughout the state that even the Democrats didn't support Obama. Otherwise, why didn't they even campaign for him? How I wish that they had grown a pair and avoided the implication that the Arkansas Democratic Party was unwilling to campaign for a black man.

I believe that Obama did a great job crafting a winning campaign, but I regret that he wrote off so much of the country, a part of the country that wasn't taken seriously by him and won't take him seriously, either. One can certainly say that the red states would never have taken him seriously, but we'll never know whether his showing up might have made any difference.

Ben, by simply not being a Republican, it labels every breath Beebe takes as an attack on our precious, precious Republicans.

I will say this many times in the coming days....Arkansas has always been at least 10 years behind the rest of the country. So as far as politics, we here in Arkansas just entered the year 2001 and our Bush years are right ahead of us.

So Beebe's YOU LIE moment is coming. An Arkansas Katrina moment lies before us. Many tax cuts will come for the wealthy out of the Ark Legislature. Luckily Arkansas must live with a balanced budget so it won't be as bad as the Bush tax cuts and Beebe can use this to wipe out all taxes on groceries.

Maybe I missed it, but I can't remember anything good for me coming from the Arkansas legislature...so perhaps dumbly, I don't expect to feel any bad over the next 2 years...before we get the chance to throw the Republicans out.

Gov. Beebe should weather it all fine because he's smart and our Republican legislators are stupid. They'll spend most of their time in LR feathering their own nests, that's why they ran for our legislature in the first place. The ethics watchdogs should have a very fruitful next 2 years if they'll keep on their toes.

Let the dimwit Arkansas voters reap what they sowed yesterday. We always have to learn our lessons the hard hard way. Welcome once again to 2001!

I agree that the Dems should have a relatively easy path back to "power" in the next election cycle once the public realizes that Obamacare is not the end of the world the GOP scared them into believing.

But that of course depends on whether the Dems will campaign against the far-right lunatics now in control. Which I don't hold out much hope for given that a certain number of the elected Dems are themselves part of the lunatic fringe.

But if the state DP grows a spine it could be a very interesting election and the electoral tables could well turn.
