Those basing their opinions on science regarding the state of a fetus might also be the same ones that discount science regarding evolution or climate change. To me science is but another pro-conception justification that fits their needs.

I believe an abortion is horrible, but when it endangers the mother's life well that is just as horrible. The conditions and ramifications of whether to abort or not are immeasurable. Witness the case of the PR womenthi summer who died from cancer because the courts would not let her take radiation therapy since it would harm the fetus. In the end the mother died and the fetus died. Any law(s) that completely deny abortion are not acceptable.

There is no easy answer there is no easy solution. To suggest there is, means one does not understand the entire scope of the issue.

How many unborn children with their lives cut short since 1989 could have invented a cancer cure? Gee, I might also ask how many were mass-murders to be. I might also ask how many homeless/uneducated American citizens (that some of the same so called pro-lifers that would deny them government assistance) might find that cure for cancer?

By the way. Before having drafted the Harry Potter books JK Rawling was impoverished. But, she had benefited from the British Government's social programs that afforded her basic living needs such as food and shelter for a time being. With these basic needs met she could focus best on writing the books that eventually allowed her to become self sufficient and give back to her community and the world in numerous ways.

Drawing the line at conception = making birth control pills illegal.
Universal health care would reduce abortions by as much as 75%, but that would mean being morally and truly pro-life as opposed to politically "pro-life."

When conservatives are carrying guns to rallies in order to preserve a health care system that kills thousands of born babies annually for the crime of having poor parents, I find it highly disgusting for them to refer to themselves as "pro-life."

It boggles the mind Saline.

I'm simpathetic to your arguments up to a point, but you folks are so deluded no one will listen for long. As long as you enjoy sitting around with those that agree with you and feeling Holy and Good, fine. Enjoy. You are better and smarter than everyone else.

If only the heathen and debauched didn't have the right to vote. That's what you really need to work on, repealling the amendments that extended voting rights. Only white male property owners should be allowed to vote. That's where American really went wrong.

Sanda Day O'Connor let us down in 1989 with her opinion in the Webster decision. If she ruled against abortion like Kennedy and the others then this would have been decided in our favor then. We may have 5 pro-life judges now (at least I think we do) but we have to wait for the right case to come along and we had one in 1989 with Webster.

"FullThrottle" you have correctly noted, "Now we have defined both extremes."

Then you ask, "Any ideas on where you want the government involved in drawing a line? Any ideas where that line would have to be to get the votes?"

You draw the line at conception.

Ronald Reagan wisely noted:
What, then, is the real issue? I have often said that when we talk about abortion, we are talking about two lives — the life of the mother and the life of the unborn child. Why else do we call a pregnant woman a mother? I have also said that anyone who doesn’t feel sure whether we are talking about a second human life should clearly give life the benefit of the doubt. If you don’t know whether a body is alive or dead, you would never bury it. I think this consideration itself should be enough for all of us to insist on protecting the unborn.

________
How do we get the votes is your second question. My answer to that is two fold.

First, we have to get 5 pro-life justices on the Supreme Court and we have to elect a series of pro-life presidents to do that.

Second, it really is not a issue of the 51% vote. If we had a vote in 1965 we may not have recognized black people as human beings. HUMAN LIFE IS PROTECTED BY GOD ACCORDING TO OUR DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE!!!! We are endowed by our Creator!!! That is why we are a Republic and not a pure Democracy. We can not be a prisoner to the 51% vote. http://thedailyhatch.org/2012/01/31/does-h…

I am looking forward to the film "Lincoln" because it talks about a lot of these issues!!!!

"FullThrottle" noted, "There may be some arguments along the way Saline but they become less credible the closer you get to the zygote and the morning after bill." Let's look at where your Obama administration is now on the issue. They support a woman's right to choose up until the baby is breathing. (Actually Obama voted in Illinios to support the right for the Doctor to make sure the baby does not survive even if born alive!!!) Are you comfortable with Obama's position? It seems that Obama has taken the issue of abortion rights and gone fullthrottle with it to the extreme.

“They did not seem foreign to our party,” Mr. Weaver said. “They seemed representative of our party.”
Duh. A few renuts get it but it is a great minority. They will give it a bit of lip service this close to a loss but once the money starts rolling in they will be right back to their old white man ways.

There may be some arguments along the way Saline but they become less credible the closer you get to the zygote and the morning after bill. It's all about the votes, you don't got 'em. But you can keep supporting people who are using this issue to gain votes for other misdeeds. That is certainly your choice. Although as demographics is now the issue of the day it is more and more obvious that that little game will not play any longer. The renuts are headed back to minority status unless they get a clue. Raygun's little deal with the devil has about run it's course.

Science has advanced to the point that it is very difficult to claim that the unborn baby does not feel pain when being aborted. This is the topic we should be discussing. It really does come do to the issue of personhood and what science has to say about it. Emotional arguments should take a backseat to the science.

Hank Hanegraaff noted:

The emerging embryo may not have a fully developed personality, but it does have complete personhood. Nonpersonhood is perhaps the trickiest of the contemporary pro-abortion arguments. Pro-abortionists once argued that the preborn baby was not fully human. Now, however, advances in science have forced most people to concede that the “product of conception” is truly human. As a result, a new version of this argument goes something like this: “The preborn child may be a human life, but it does not possess personhood.”

Dr. Francis Beckwith exploded the latest version of this myth when he wrote, “From a strictly scientific point of view, there is no doubt that the development of an individual human life begins at conception. Consequently, it is vital that the reader understand that she did not come from a zygote, she once was a zygote; she did not come from an embryo, she once was an embryo; she did not come from a fetus, she once was a fetus; she did not come from an adolescent, she once was an adolescent.”
To my own foreign church leader with the beanie head dress that goes especially for you. You better change boy or risk destroying our church!
